I've got a friend like that.. Loves old cars and driving them, but when there's an issue it's, "it'll work itself out" before fixing it.

There's a ton of information on the A bodies, and it's all here. What areas is the car rusting? Common areas are the rear leaf spring hangers, lower quarters, inner fenders near the firewall, battery tray, front floor boards due to leaky wiper gaskets, and the dog legs on yoru front fenders...

Where does that hose go? If it goes to your vacuum advance canister on your carb then that could be the issue.

How's your fuel pump? I've had that similar feeling when a fuel pump is on its way out. Your idle is low, because of timing? Or you've got the throttle screw backed off?

Check your battery to engine ground.

Lol, my 1965 Fargo W500 Power Wagon, 4x4 with 40" bias ply's on split rims with 4.88's with a 440 4 speed gets about 4 MPG, so you got me beat!

My 65 Valiant 4 door, 273 2bbl, auto, 7 1/4 with 2.94's gets about 22MPG.

In the winter I would use 10W30, and summer I use 15W40.

Unsure of what plate you're talking about, but just put the bolts in the water pump and hang the gasket on the bolts, then thread them into the motor.

This is what I was thinking. My 65 Valiant has sort of a 'buzzing' or 'clicking' coming from right in front of me.. its the speedometer cable inside the gauge cluster. Does the speedometer bounce around at all?

Check underneath the car, where the linkage from your shifter connects to the transmission. There will be an adjustment bolt that you can loosen/tighten on your shifter linkage. Loosen it off, put the shifter in park, and put the tranny in park. Then tighten the bolt back down where they...

Is your choke stuck? Sometimes with the automatic choke, it gets stuck in a certain position.

You don't see them for sale very often up here, but when you do they're usually around $200.

Umm, all I know is the bellhousing for a /6 904 is different for a SB 904. So you can't use a /6 904 on a SB. As for the internals, I really have no idea.

I've got a few /6's, but I like to keep them. I've put them in cheap cars before, like free 4 door Darts and things. They make for a good cheap daily driver.

I have an 85 D100 /6 auto, drove that thing hard for years, lost compression in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th cylinders. Still runs but pretty weak going up hills, hah. Bought another slant for cheap, dropped it in, still drives fine. The old slant had probably 500,000 miles on it.
