    Weatherhead proportioning valve

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my brakes, new lines, calipers, rear wheel cylinders and master cylinder. The master cylinder seals went and blew debris into the valve on the frame. I have the rebuild kit, but it must cover a few valve blocks. Mine is stamped 347-B, does anyone have a diagram of...

10.98" rotors vs 11.8" worth swapping up?

I didn't change the calipers, it might be something to do in the future. The smaller ones work fine right now and I can keep the same M/C. My next step is the 1.03 torsion bars for a stiffer front end. I want to upgrade from the 892/893.

10.98" rotors vs 11.8" worth swapping up?

EBC red, they are a little hard on the rotors but are very good pads. They come in different color coded pads, and they aren't cheap. European Brake Co. is the company. You might try the middle level first, they aren't as expensive and will probably be just as effective.

10.98" rotors vs 11.8" worth swapping up?

I use them on my Barracuda, and they are a step up in braking BUT, I have upgraded pads. The M/C is a 15/16th bore and does have a little more pedal travel. I like it though, the further pedal travel allows a way to moderate the braking. The car stops as well or better then anything I have ever...

Front disc brake conversion on Demon-Now alignment is way off. Needing help!

If you can't get enough movement out by adjusting the cam bolts on the upper control arm Moog makes offset bushings for the UCL's. I used them on my conversion. Install them with the forward one with the thick side to the body and the rear one the thin side to the body.

looking for reasonable front brake upgrade.

I use single piston 74 calipers on my 11 3/4 with EBC red pads and 11 x 2 1/2 drums with good shoes on the back. That car stops on a dime, no fade. I live at the top of a long hill and have never driven a car with brakes that good. The larger rotors really help and good pads or use Viper...

Problem with disc brakes after swap

X2!! Also a GOOD set of pads make all the difference. How much peddle travel do you have? The smaller bore MC's will give you more peddle travel. Just one more suggestion, I use EBC red pads, they are hard on the rotors and make some dust but they stop! I had them on my daily driver and found...

Rusty brake drum from sitting for a year? I know disks will do that. Pull the drum and check the shoe contact area.

is it worth swapping 10.7 inch discs for the 11.8 inch?

I did the swap, it isn't a big difference on a flat road but I live on a steep hill and they run a lot cooler at the bottom. Would I do it again? maybe. But first I'd use a better pad on the calipers. EBC makes pads that are much better then the run of the mill stuff available over the counter...

    4 Wheel Disc Oversize Opinions

I have the 11 3/4 " on the front and 11 X 2 1/2 drums on the rear. They work well, I live on a hill and it's nice to have the extra braking. We lose more deer to cars then hunters here. I still have the smaller caliper, and haven't decided if it's worth the effort to change to the 76 and up...

    Question about my brakes

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder after you painted it? That is probably your problem. That can be done on the car, I'd start there and then try to bleed the rest of the system.

    ebc brake pads...

Here is the part number, I got them off Amazon. They had the best price. Now these are for 73-75 rotors. I see you have Dart, did you upgrade the front brakes? EBC Brakes DP3678C EBC Redstuff Ceramic Low Dust Brake Pads by EBC Brakes 5 out of 5 stars 1 rating | 1 review...

    ebc brake pads...

I use the red ones on my Barracuda and Honda. They make a lot of dust and do squeal a little but they do stop very well. I like them and would recommend them.

Help me identify this brake drum

    My 67 had 10" drums on the 8 3/4 rear! They look like the drums from a 70 Duster 8 3/4 redrilled. Those weren't 2 1/2 though.

    Larger calipers

Thanks for the input guys, I now have a direction. I'll let you know how this works out.

    Larger calipers

I have the 73 calipers and the 11 3/4 rotors with the 15/16th bore MC. I intend to change the pads first for either the red EBC or yellow EBC pads. If that gets me where I want to go I'll leave it that way. If not, it's the MC and caliper change. These stock pads just aren't working as good as I...

    Larger calipers

Actually, the info page said they work as well cold as hot. I have the red ones in my daily driver (power brakes) and they are scary good. They took some getting used to. I'm getting ready to put the new motor/kframe in and wanted some input on how well they'll work on manual brakes. The pads I...

    Larger calipers

What effect does a larger bore caliper have on front disk brakes? Also, has anyone used the yellow EBC pads on their cars and how much improvement did you see?

    drop spindle disk brake help

Now that sounds like a place that knows how to build a front end. Something is wrong if the caliper is cocked on the spindle bracket, try getting to someone in the company that knows what the heck he's talking about. I used a c clamp to hold the piston in and bled it off the spindle, it worked...

brake issues, help me get my car driving

It does sound like air in the system, the only other problem could be a defective Master cyl. Brake fluid bypassing the piston seals.

    Help it is grinding bad

My 11 inch drums have the brake size stamped on the rim edge. I think you have the wrong backing plates. I picked mine up from the back of a station wagon, got everything from one axle. You might have the 2 1/2" drums on a 2" backing plate.

Confused on Spring kit 68 dart

Your upper ball joint looks a little rough, check both uppers and lowers while you're there. It's a good time to go through the front end and replace any defective parts. Are you getting the drums turned?

    Interesting drum brake problem

I just went through this with a Honda. I had weak brake return springs and the rear drums would drag. Replaced with a new spring kit and all is well again. I've never had the problem before, and it drove me nuts. Check for that if you find nothing else wrong.

    Rear Disc Brake Conversion

My local junkyard has a bunch of jeeps, I've done the 11.75 disks on the front and have 11 inch C body drums on the back. I would like to know if this is doable and if it would make any change in the way the car stops now.

    Disc Brakes or Drum Brakes

Drums will fade with heavy use and pull if not adjusted right. Nascar used drums in the 60's and made them work. Disks are so much easier to maintain and have less fade that there is no reason to not use them. If you're doing a restoration it would be wise to keep the drums. I use 11 3/4 disks...
