Is this weird? 4 speed car has auto linkage

And I think that's why they give you the reverse light, right? So you know that you're now able to shut off the engine, turn the key and lock the column.

    67 formula s barracuda 8 3/4 standard or option?

I owned a '67 barracuda Non-S convertible with the Formula S options, the 235 H.P. motor & suspension......it had a 7 1/4" out back. Definitely bone stock too.....even had the original exhaust system.

Opinions on Reasonably Priced Aftermarket Automatic Shifters

The only aftermarket shifter that I ever had was a Z-gate and I freakin' loved that thing!! I never installed the black & chrome cover, just to give it a cool functional look. That sucker took all the abuse I threw at it. I'll probably buy one of them online right now, just to have......

TF727 auto or Chrysler 3 or 4spd manual?

You must search to find your own A-833, obtain and install it, Grasshopper.......you must become one with the engine, clutch, linkage and ultimately, traction. Now go.....

    how to drain a 904

I know what you mean. I've got an old 904 that came behind a 273 Commando Barracuda I had. I believe it's got some different internals, like maybe valve body or governor springs so it will upshift at a higher RPM, or so I've been told. Don't think I'll ever use it since I'm a 4-speed guy...

    8 1/4 rear with 2.25 gears.

I'd love to have a 2.25 rear end! Then I could have an A-body daily driver!

    I hate headers!!!!!!!!

What you need is some 4-speed clutch linkage to thread thru those headers!! LOL

    Gear Vendors overdrive

Aren't they a bit pricey? Yeah, 3000 RPM @ 70 MPH......I would not be happy with that!

    strange trans issue

It's not idling too slow, is it? See if turning up the idle helps at all too. That's a bit of a "crutch" but hey.....if it buys you another year.... Maybe an additive could help if you're not in a position financially to do a rebuild right now.

    are 727s worth anything ?

Aren't some 727's that came outta floor-shift cars a bit more desirable?.....because of the added little casting piece on the tailhousing? Or am I completely insane? Seems like one of my 904's has a little 2-hole area on the bottom of the tailhousing where the floor-shift bracket bolts on...

    pick some gears for me

3.91's or 3.73 if you got the coin. I had a A-833 OD in my cuda with a 2.76 rear.....that was hilarious! 4th was just "optional" and I had to downshift at any slight grade. It was pretty cool though. Where I live, everyone drives 80~85+ on the fwy.

    shifter choice.

I dunno.....back when I was running an automatic, I ran a B&M Z-Gate....it's the cheapest shifter they make, but...I really LOVED that thing!!! Didn't miss a beat!

    Good Auto Shifter To Use??

I used to have a B&M "Z-Gate" shifter.....actually a cheap one of theirs.....but I loved bangin' it....it was very cool. I didn't run the plastic cover to give it that more functional look.....lol..

    68 Dart GT Trans Question

I kind of thought that the S6 904's were obviously different from the LA's as in the shape of the bellhousing (starter way up high). And since there were never any 904 big blocks (that I know of..) it shouldn't be too hard to find an LA 904. Shoot, Pick-A-Part should have some floating around.

    2 speed rear end

It was probably a mechanical overdrive unit on the back of the 3 speed manual gearbox......you pull the handle under the dash out to engage it. The only 2 speed rear ends I've ever heard of were on some experimental Fords or Mercurys. You could probably find out more if you Googled it.

Help with rear end gearing please.

IMO, that'll never happen....not tryin' to rain on your parade, but there's 528 Hemis that are scratchin' just to get into the 10's. I would say that if massive acceleration is what you're after, you'd better go with something in the 4's.....4.10's, 4.30's, 4.56's.....and forget about driving...

Aftermarket trans cooling lines, do they fit?

Oooh I need some of those too! My new Dart project was missing them and it has headers as well. I hope some people chime in......I have a 904. What's the price on those?

    Which do you like best?

4-speeds rule! I converted my convertible '67 Cuda, my (ex) '67 Notchback, and I'll be doing the same to my upcoming '69 Dart project soon. How about... 1. Unlimited "stall speed" 2. Less H.P. draw off the engine 3. Able to get better mileage....doing 1st-to-4th. (Ever been 50 miles...

Best guess on my issue ?

I'd say driveline......have it checked out. But.....does it vibrate @ 3500?.......or is @ a certain SPEED? If you put your car in "N" and find a nice long downhill to get your car coasting up to 40 MPH (or whatever speed it vibrates at) that should REALLY pinpoint it to the driveline. If it's...

    273 Commando automatics....what's special?

I'm curious to know if anyone knows exactly what a 273 Commando 904 consists of? All I have heard is that they use a higher stall torque converter (hemi?) and different springs in the governor for higher upshift speeds. But this is not confirmed.......anyone have first-hand knowledge of what...
