Where is Covington?

1965 Valiant 4 door.
Here is my latest Valiant. It's a V-200, 4 door, with a 273, 2bbl, add on a/c, and a 4 speed! All the other cars I own or have owned are 2 door, but I couldn't pass this on up. The motor turns over and I am getting all the stuff to see if I can get it running. It was originally black with aqua interior.

Yes I could use the wiring harness ill PM you
And its a town of 266 lol
Take exit 12 on I-35 south bound go down 67 you'll hit the gas station
Basically the entire town right there lol
And that car is gorgeous I love the 4 speed
I'd love f mine were a 4 but I just gotta get my motor spinning this time change made it so its dark when I get off now.

Oh, you pulled the carb and valve cover. I was worried that it had set like the picture for all those years. Did I miss something in your posts? What makes you think you need a wiring harness?? Do you need an instrument panel harness, or an engine harness? Both are available NEW through Year One - the engine harness is lots cheaper than the instrument panel one. They both show up used here on FABO in the parts for sale section. Craigslist probably won't work for classic/antique parts, or it hasn't for me in Austin. The DFW one might be better.

Also, now would be a great time to get the REAL factory service manual and start getting familiar with the sections you'll be working on. It's available FREE, right here: [ame]https://www.dropbox.com/s/upks33txhb...e%20Manual.pdf[/ame]

Welcome to FABO. If someone here doesn't have your answer, you're probably asking the wrong question.

Only reason I say I'd like a wiring harness is because when working with beetles its just easier to take any wires in a old car feom field already and replace them.
But thia car has all wires chewed off by probably rats or skunks or squirrels

Year One has repro wiring harnesses. Possibly pricey but good. I used the engine and A/C harness on the Demon. No complaints.

Had to figure out where you were. It has been a while since I went shopping. I'm not sure who's doing what these days. All have a web site of some sort. Good luck

All Makes
CTC Auto Ranch - Sanger, Texas

Mopar Specialists
Dr. Mopar - Neiderwald, Texas
Texas Acres - Killeen, Texas

Good luck.

Well, if ya want quick and good it's gonna cost. I learned doing construction that every job has three desirable factors: quick, good and cheap.
The catch is you can only have two of them. I got my harnesses from Year One. They weren't cheap, but they practically fell into place and they work great!

I didn't think of varmint damage to your harnesses, but if they're chewed they need renewed! (Cute, huh?)

Nice start.THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE! With that out of the way, nice find(?). I would do a 318,off the bat. Cheaper, and more reliable. You found the right place, for honest info. Had a friend, with a 66 4 door Dart. What a cool car. Welcome.

im gonna look on year one today, quality over quantity. id rather get one harness and it last me a while because its actually a good one versus me buying 6 and dealing with a electrical fire along the way.
thats what im think AbodyBomber, 318 will be cheaper parts than 273 and easy to pick one up,
and 64ragtop, yes i have all the parts to the motor, radiator, hoses, clamps, carb, breather, valve covers, fan, keys to ignition and truck, it has a locking gas cap.

You're in better shape that I had feared. Ditto on the 318, as you said and I share your reasoning on the wiring. As we said when I lived in prairie dog country: GOPHER IT!!

What a score a 4 door 4 speed ! I could only wish to find something like that.

Do you have the plastic tail light lenses all of them by chance? I am looking for a good set for my 64 Plymouth baracuda. Is the hood for sale?

New Cuda guy

There is a company out of mexico that sells 64-65 barracuda tail lamp lenses on ebay. I have heard the quality is quite good and the price is reasonable. A new lens won't have the fading or cloudiness common to old lenses

FWIW, the /6 and LA V-8 use the same underhood harness at least on the 72 model. If you decide to get another engine, you'll need to be sure the rear of the crankshaft is machined out for a pilot bushing. Otherwise, you'll have problems getting the engine and trans to mate up. Another advantage of the teen is that all 73 and later had the hardened valve seats for use with unleaded fuels.

Funny you say that because I have seen guys post here that those lens` are crap.

Yes, I recall that post as well. I recall that when told that they didn't have any on hand the poster threatened the company with complaints and a negative review and then they sent him a crappy set in a timely fashion. I have also read that for a "driver" quality car they are perfectly fine.

If you want show car resto perfect you can buy them from laysons for $75 per side. The choice is simple when my choice is $50 for 2 or $150 for 2. I would rather have a good set of new red lenses that weren't perfect that the tailgater behind can see than foggy originals.

I looked through the sellers feedback and he only has 1 feedback for a 66 set none for 65 so that would make me not want to take the chance. I do understand not needing show quality but if I am out in the rain I want my bulbs to stay dry with sealed lights.

i have gone threw almost every page on FABO over last couple weeks and dont see many of these cars on here at all. i see 2 doors or wagons but not many 4 doors. why is that are they harder to find or just people think they are an ugly mopar??

well i have been working my *** off up at work and havent had much time to get to the valiant at all i did get the hood straightened back out though, been trying to get my new house set up with water lines and electricity, anybody in texas who work on their cars often or does texas have a small mopar family? :)

I like this post.
I also love the 4 door with 4 speed!
As for four or "more door " enthusiasm when our a-bodies were new four doors just weren't very cool - practical but not cool - so now us old pharts like 2 doors or convertibles or something unique like a wagon. It's funny that you can't give a 2 door to someone under say 30, think of a two door Jeep Cherokee.

Funny you say that because I have seen guys post here that those lens` are crap.

Ya, I tried a set of those and the quality is marginal at best. I cracked the right one in two as it was not flat enough to seat into the housing. The exterior features on the lenses are all rounded and out of shape. I would recommend another option

Well I got out there today and put the car up on jack stands under it. Have taken motor mount bolts out but found out the cherry picker is done... :( looks like I need new cylinder or just get a new one.
Took a tire off because all 4 tires are locked up and it won't roll. But now my drum won't come off... any suggestions??? I have an 86 dodge 1500 with a 318 in it.

Got out there cleaning it out and finding missing pieces.
