63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

You really do have a god-given talent I don't know if you took after your father or mother but somebody put it in your bloodline and you are so good at what you do...nothing left alone...attention to detail to everything!!! Best of luck, Will

Wow, thank you;). Gives me ideas. :thankyou: :thankyou:

That bracket is correct. It connects to the dash by the ears on each side. The speaker screws into the bracket before you mount it. Here is one in a dash from a 65 Dart.

It was the same in my 66 Valiant. I solved the speaker problem by making a plywood cutout to take the place of the bracket, then mounting a pair of small (can't remember now but no more than 4") speakers to the plywood. Because I'm a cheeseball I used plumber's tape to hold the plywood to the original mounting studs - it's worked fine for the six years it's been in there. In my case sound quality was fine and I didn't care it was all coming from the center of the dash.

FYI, you know someone who has a 65 Dart dash with speaker and bracket, for which he has no use. Just sayin'. He also has a loose bracket (no speaker) that could be used to make a template.

Gosh Will, that’s the nicest compliment yet;) even in my younger years, brothers had left to the Navy, mom and dad divorced, I became quite handy at fixing anything to help mom, stuff just seemed logical to repair, plumbing, our lawn tractor. However I give credit to my dad which insisted I take automechanics in high school. All my brothers took it and it was quite fun! But that was years ago (‘71-‘73) but gave me a good foundation. Now it’s all I think about, I love to take old things and make new again

Watch out flying!!! You know what they say about birds, feathers and airplanes!

I agree @Mtrhead, the attention to details is impressive!
Unfortunately, I am one of those slap it together get it done types. It is funny (not always to me) as my wife walks around my body work finding every little boo boo, run, bug, etc. I swear to her I will fix them all! ( yes right!!!) Good thing no one pays me for my work!!!

Hi, yes, we're home;) When we got home, my brother decided to buy a '68 MGB and I said, "OK", so got my trailer out, drove for an hour, loaded it and I've been playing with it a bit. It's needs work but is driveable. I'll post pics later as I didn't take one darned picture. The steering wheel is 14 with 2" dish. After I'm happy, I'll pull it all back out.
I started looking at the black seats and they'll be ok until I buy something better. I even looked at my old bench seats, but I don't think I could do them justice. So the bench seat is out.

I'm waiting on a steering wheel to make sure the seat is in a good position. I'm using Miata sliders~ they're good for universal applications, slides a good bit.

Then I got the parts for my steering shaft~ I made it collapsable , but only by a couple inches, but enough to get it out without moving the steering column out.

But, nice to be home!!!

wow, yeah, that's the thing~ do "they" make speakers that fit it? Finding one is a little perplexing, you'd think there'd be hundreds of them floating around

I did buy two 3" speakers with intentions of making a dash speaker, they're so small, but they have good ratings.

Thanks,

I prefer "Radio Delete" myself, love hearing the engine going through the motions.

Tip in the 4 Barrels as needed...

This ^ was from my '76 Truck with the optional Radio Delete. Liked that truck a lot.

You can tell how old I am by the facts.
Now days,,, I care less about how fast,
I care less about a radio.
But.. when I musty have AC or PS, I am almost aged out of the hobby! Or maaaybe just getting soft!

Nowadays, I like to hear my radio and be able to talk to my husband while I drive~ so lesser amount of engine noise/exhaust is a good thing;)

I like to have the option. If she is rambling radio delete is no help... But the old Alpine radio cassette player allows me to drown out that babble with a little Sabbath. If it's a good day I turn it way down to some softer sound from the Eagles. The little 273 4 gear with the original exhaust resonator sounds good either way.
