—- I didn’t use K frame spacers. Because I’m using an engine plate I didn’t see any gain. However, just thinking now, by using spacers that would give me more steering shaft space at the back of the head, if need be, because the steering box would drop. Thanks!
I run the Indy covers. I notched my master cylinder housing with a die grinder a touch. It’s close. I don’t have any good close ups from when it was last together on this phone unfortunately.
I believe sole purpose of originally dropping the K frame the 1/2" was for header clearance with 2-1/4" primaries. but with the stage V heads, might be a good remedy....sometimes that extra 1/4" is all it takes. I'm thinking additional tunnel clearance too.
nope, it was a QQ1 blue 383 4 speed GTS. I probably should have restored it... lol Engine compartment is black cause I couldn’t decide what color to paint the car at that point of the build.
Dart update.. Spent a fair bit of time under the Dart the last couple of days. Fitting the transmission lines. Getting the shifter cable run, bracket, linkage working and getting the throttle pressure cable completed. Also finished the NSS and back up light wiring, all working. This transmission has to drop down again, there’s a billet front drum going in, safety reasons given the HP / TQ of this. 572. The headers fit like a glove, nothing touching, and the first set of headers ever, where I could use a torque wrench on every header flange bolt, both sides. Looks like the MC will be coming off for even a plug change. But that’s not a big deal. I’ve ended up with 1/4” space between the MC and valve cover. I will be converting to flexible SS lines yet. 18” lines will work but need to figure out needed fittings.. A few things left to do but things are all falling into place. This engine compartment is full. Rad will be raised 1.250, there’s room for it to come up. Coolant recovery tank yet to come. Birds eye view. Soon to start planning out the exhaust.
I now appreciate why Ron Butler fabricated / installed the dual master cylinders under the dash in Butch's 75 B/MP California Flash /Direct Connection Hemi Duster.
wonder where the idea for the recessed bulkhead came from?...... removing the valve cover on that race car is a piece of cake.
—- Yes I haven’t got to that point yet but this is my winter project anyways. It looks to me like that recess box just clips into place, from the inside?
build em' , sell em', ship em'......kind of a one man band. I have shipped (USPS ) to Canada....just a little extra. Ill look it up in the morning.
Looks great! I’m still convinced that you wash and wax the tread plates on that lift every time the car gets moved. I’m envious of that super clean shop!
—- Thanks Mike! You’re sure making crazy HP with your project I see. Yeah I just sort of have a system in place and as I move from one task to the next and done with this tool or that I put things back. Sweeping or wiping gets incorporated into those moments when I’m thinking/deciding. Like what’s next to do, what if this or that. And I park the old Camaro under the hoist when I’m not working, I don’t want anything falling off the hoist onto it so I always take a whisk broom to the tread plates beforehand. I don’t know, I’m weird.. I’m left handed too...lol.
Yeah my hemi project is a little out of hand, lol. My winter project is a shop cleaning and organizing that’s desperately needed. I need to get through a kitchen remodel before that can happen.
Been keeping busy on the Dart, seems doing a little is taking a lot as of late.. Had to drop the oil pan to change the oil line bulkhead fitting. Milodon shipped 45 degree fittings, which wouldn’t work. Needed 90 degree on both the oil pump and pan. Because the o ring is between the pan and the pick up, the pan had to come down. The new black 90 fixed things up. I don’t know how I’m gonna get the flexible dipstick to fit, it’s on back order still.. Been building on the left side exhaust. It’s now finished, minus the stainless steel tips that are sitting in the Summit cart. I decided to go with 3” over 3.5”, solely because of the decibels. Although I did step up to 3.5 for the angled tip. The SS tip will end up close to the rocker panel ahead of the tire a ways. I chose to kick the exhaust out the side over dumps or tail pipes, Will finish the right side exhaust tomorrow. And that’s about it for progress.
Finished up the exhaust today. Will be on the loud side but I’m banking on a thumbs up instead of a ticket. Tomorrow will be some up top work for a change.
can I get the part number for the 90 degree adapter for the 12an hose thru the oil pan to your single line pick-up ....thanks
—- Here you go. The pan has to come down to change it. The o ring is between the pan and the pick up so you got to get inside to get the o ring off the fitting. The 90 degree fitting at the back of the oil pump I have on order from Milodon. #12467
car is looking great. did those 90' exhaust bends come with the hanger rods or did you add them? i like the collector flange on the mufflers
