A 1974 Duster - My 2nd one, 41 years later!

With sadness, typing through tears, I lost my Dad yesterday on Father’s Day... of all days. He was the main reason I had started this thread so he could follow along and watch the Duster being restored. He passed away at 89 years old in Santa Barbara, CA. I am at DIA waiting to get on a plane to be with my Mom and help her as needed.

So sorry to hear about your dad, Alex. And as you said, a heck of a day for it to happen. I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers!
 
So very sorry for your loss Alex. I'm sure he appreciated your hard work. Finish it for him and for yourself. We only get a little time in our short lives.

I am doing better today guys, thank you all! I know my Dad would have said “Nevermind me, look at that Duster”!

So, Hey...look at that Duster! Andy is in the pic, he is the guy that did all the final buff, polish, and hang the stripes.

Alex, where did your rims come from. What do you think of the quality, and are the rears 8 inches wide with 4 1/2 backspace?

I agree! Those black door handles look great on there!! Any thought about having the door and trunk locks powder coated black as well? Also, you can take this with a grain of salt if you like but IMO the wheels look kinda “off” on this car. With no other chrome or argent on the rest of the car, the wheels kinda look “unfinished”. Some black would look awesome on there I think.

Maybe paint the rallyes black? Or put some black cop wheels on it?

Also, an idea that I just had that could look really good is to have your side marker lights tinted. Maybe even the tail lights. Just throwin out ideas, do what you want with them. Lol
 
Alex...I'm very sorry you lost your Dad. I'm quite sure he was very proud of you as he followed along on the thread. The car looks better and better with each new picture.

I am really kinda warming up to doing the wheels in black of some sort. Paint, powder coat, lots of options....let me give it some good thought.

Yes, key locks being done in black.

Vintage Wheels custom made the rear wheels, can't remember the back spacing, I would have to measure. The rears are 15x8 if I remember correctly, it's probably documented in this thread back when I was doing the wheels. Front wheels came from Summit 14x7's , but are Vintage Wheels also. Quality is nice I would say.

Got the call, car is all polished, stripes installed, doors, hood installed and adjusted....come pay us and take it home. So....I'll call a flat bed car hauler in the morning. Heading there in the morning to pay them also.

Just got the car back, the boys doing the send off final polishes. Brock came down as well to see my car, nice to see Brock again!
