Another rant by David Vizard, lol

Has he ever actually had any hard experience on anything except the Ford 2000 and 2300 engines?
He's supposedly done over 10,000 dyno runs mostly on sbc and bbc, I wouldn't say he doesn't know ****, just he's got an ego problem and a lot of his fans are fanatics.

So then, most of us here who actually turn wrenches have BUILT more engines than he has.

I can't possibly see how anyone can dis a Pro Stock engine program. When you're making over 3 HP per cubic inch whatever you're doing is doing it right.

There isn't anything those guys overlook. I think DV just likes to hear himself talk.

Tom

Believe me I do, never clicked or read anything he puts out.
We have more knowledge right here.
Just like the UTG Videos.
He get's clicks and makes $ off the ones that live him. And gets the haters to click and get's paid equal. Clicks are Clicks.
We have member's here who seek attention and get 15 to 25 page's. Not picking on them. Just sayin if you stop it stops
Stop clicking the I am buying a car. Sorry I never bought a car. Rinse Repeat
There used to be a young guy MoparJamie on Moparts that started out with fixing crapped out lawn and farm equipment and blowing most up. He later moved onto clapped out sea bodies. Not a good one in the bunch.
One of his famous threads got god knows how many Clicks for the owner Tom.
He picked up a non running junk C Body. Got it running drove it lost stearing and brakes. He hit a newer Vette. Messed it up bad and totally destroyed his C Body bunker. Wanted everyone to feel sorry for him he lost his car. Had no paperwork changed into his name or insurance as was just driving it around to get things sorted out for a month.

Guys finally had enough of his silly getting this or want that and poor me threads and stopped responding and looking at the train wreck.

Every board has um and tons on Facebook and YouTube.
You stop and they stop.
Sorry I am rambling.........

Very recently DV entered the eric wingarner chevy LS "Cam challenge" because his formulas are so far advanced....and guess where he finished? Not even in the top half. The guy is all talk and theory, absolutely NO hands on, real world experience.

Here is how that went. Hell, one of the guys who beat him, isint even a professional engine builder, he is a lineman for the power company and a hobbyist weekend builder. Some people TALK the talk, some people WALK the walk...

All you guys sound just like him but worse, bashing him personally, not just his work. 82 years old and brain surgery on top of that, not the sharpest tool in the shed anymore. All he has left is his past accomplishments. You'd think that ya'll have a bit of compassion. Leads me to believe ya'll bunch of mean ******* pricks homebound hiding behind your computer screens cause if you spoke of folks like that in public places, ya'll be constantly getting into fights and getting your *** whooped I'd imagine.

Damn man get his cam out your mouth. All men do is talk ****. It’s what we do, banter is what drives us. It’s good for the soul.

I didn't see anyone bash the man personally, but I do see a whole lot of bashing him for being all talk. Which he is. He is nothing more than a story teller. I learned a long time ago, (being in the engine building profession) that the ones who speak loudest, usually know the least. He is the poster child. Just look at the cam challenge I posted, if the man has that big of a advantage, how could he not even spec a cam that finished in the top 10 against a bunch of inexperienced hobbyists???? Because he never could, he just TOLD you he could.

I didn't start the thread to trash DV, I'm not a hater, but he did put out a dis video challenging all builders and cam experts that he knows more and will mop the floor with any of them, then titles it a DV destroys video and really doesn't says or shows anything of substance.

So you should be able to comment on something someone posted especially a post like that.

You listen to other good/great builders and most say they don't know everything which no one can, but DV don't obviously he's best but never really ever shows any proof, apparently has 10's of thousands of dyno runs couldn't show any to prove his point ? and what is his point other builders aren't suppose to be agreeing with anyways ? seems like a strawman argument no one is really making.

The real elephant in the room is all of this is dyno-testing bragging/contesting, and it does NOT replace proving it on the track, and until I see those cams lay down 1/4 mile MPH #'s back to back.....it means very little to Me.
Don't take My word for it, You can take Warren Johnson's, Darrin Morgan's,.....they know...

True, probably is a blind spot for people like him , Richard Holdener etc... why their more R&D than a builder.

That episode from DV just felt like filler content. An upload just for the sake of an upload. Just a waste of time to talk about some opinions that don't matter. DV needs to stop yelling at the clouds and just get back to teaching without the ego.

DV definitely likes to toot his own horn. In my head it's the stereotypical educated British in him. 82 years has caught up with him and he is coasting to the finish line.

I really wish there were recordings of Harold Brookshire talking shop. That man designed the lobe, worked with the builder, studied the results, refined the lobe, and never beat his chest. He just kept at it.

Being a typical more is better male it's still hard to grasp not everything can benefit from the most aggressive parts (like camshaft lobes).

I am writing this for all the DV haters. David Vizard was a trained aerospace engineer who went on to build his own racing car (classic mini) which he raced with an A-series engine(s) he built for it, in Britain. He first made his name with the book How to modify your mini. So, yes he has pulled on the spanners and got his hands dirty. Not sure when he spent time with the Ford 2000cc OHC engine. At some point (70s or 80s) he moved to the USA and set up a business with the late David Anton, specialising in A and B Series engines from BMC and also Triumph engines. I'm not sure if this is when he first used a flowbench or not. Anyway, my second point is that he spend a lot of time grinding heads and flow bench testing them - getting his hands dirty again. He also never simply said this head flows this much but took flow readings at various valve lifts. I doubt he was the first person to undertake such extensive testing and research but almost certainly he was the first motoring writer that wrote about that. He would have had his own dyno as well at this time and so would have undertaken many pulls. His Mopar connection, as far as I know was when he worked with the competition department of Chrysler UK to work on turbocharging a Hillman Avenger - what I think you guys had as the Plymouth Cricket. When I met him in the early 1990s it was at Mountune Racing Engines in England who were and are highly respected. I went with him to Kent Cams where he was working with them and then and now Kent Cams are highly respected. I guess over all those years he was never far from a dyno and a flowbench.

So now some of you aren't impressed with his Youtube material and you may or may not be justified in your opinion. DV may have forgotten more than some of us have learned. He may also have forgotten some of what he had learned himself. So why does he continue to produce Youtube material? Well he simply may like keeping busy or he may need the money. What I do know is that my personal experience of DV was that he was a helpful friend to me and the very best advice he gave me wasn't related to building engines or anything to do with cars. Maybe DV is like a boxer than never quit when they were at the top of their game? He made a significant contribution to motoring enthusiasts worldwide by testing parts and publishing data on what worked and what didn't. He must also have made significant contributions to performance and race engine development by virtue of the companies he worked with when he was based in the USA and in Britain when he came back for what must have been working holidays.

David always struck me as being kind, compassionate, patient, willing to help and willing to share his knowledge. He may come across wrong to some, but maybe that is because he has to be a self-publicist. Life hasn't always been as kind to him as it has been to most of us yet I never heard him complain about his health or anything else that never worked out for him. Once he did share with me how shamefully he had been treated by a very large company and it makes me sad to recall that. People here have been ruder about him than he ever would be about them. So if you disagree with his comments on Youtube, pause before hitting that keyboard and cut an old man some slack.
