have changed to hyd. roller cam. do i need to change to bronze gear on dissy/oil pump drive. am efi so no dissy. cheers

I think you need the bronze gear... ( but beware ! you have to check the gear from time to time.. the cam gear "eats the bronze guy )

If you don't know as the ones that made it. Many hydraulic rollers have std drive gears so you don't need the expensive and wearable bronze oil pump drive gear. But if you are not sure you can ruin the cam or spend a bit if you get it wrong.

I know I'm right....
cast rollers dont need the bronze drive (look at millions of 5.2's) , only the much harder $$$ billet roller cams. The gear on the cam is as same hardness as the gear on the drive.
Check with the cam manufacture.
In example, Crane came has came with grind numbers that end in "IG" which stands for "Iron Gear." There is no need for a bronze gear with those cams. But not all of there fans are like that and some need the bronze gear.

I do believe this is the gear to use with any cam reguardless of material. Someone correct me if I am wrong!

is this a steel /iron gear ? I have used a composite gear in my Pontiac Firebird a few years ago.... because of the cam

Steel gear. It actually says it on the packaging, but it is hard to see only part of it there.

You are definitely not wrong, and in fact, that is the best gear made to date imo . It is not only melonized, it also appears as though it is burnished which softens the sharp edges which reduces gear wear.
Actually, the melonized steel gear is not compatible with all camshafts. The only one that is, is the composite gear.

Yup, just another example of inaccurate or outdated info from a magazine where someones first hand experience is more accurate . It is always best to check with the company that made the part irregardless of what is printed in a magazine . This is easy to do because all of them except for MOREL list their phone numbers.
