I have a 67 Valiant, I will soon be welding in 1.5" dom tubing to mount my bucket seats to.
Basic plan is 2 tubes going from drivers side, bending over the trans tunnel to passenger side with 4 cross tubes between those and tabs to bolt the seats to.

What I am contemplating is how to mount the tubes.
Option 1) Flat steel welded to the sheet metal/factory steel reinforcement the stock seats originally bolted to.

Option 2) Depending on tube steel subframe connector possibilities, if I can reasonably make subframe connectors with tube steel, I may do that and tie the seat tubes to the subframe connectors.

Will any of you that have custom subframe connectors (aka cage work) related to what I am describing, I would appreciate it :)

(pic is a loose idea of what I want to do inside, definitely not dimensionally correct)

I've never seen connectors run that way before? I don't see much to gain. I opted for the more conventional sub frame connectors.
These are from Competition Engineering but a lot of guys here fab them themselves.

It doesn't take much to hold seats in, it's the safety equipment (seat belts, harnesses, etc.) that needs solid mounting. Seems adding all that tubing is just added weight. Subframe connectors connect the front and rear subframes of a unibody car.

Here is how I did mine:

This thread might be a useful read to see how other's did theirs as well, plus some discussion on the merits.

Plug "subframe connectors" in the search box and check the search titles only box. There are 4 pages of thread titles. We'll see you again in about a week because it will take you that long to read through them all.

So much looks familiar in those pictures! I did my subframe connectors the exact same way and of course, the wheel cribs as well.

The cribbing split into two parts is all your idea, you get all the credit for that.

Factory attachments for the bucket seats were just a couple of plates welded to the floor for the inside track. The outside tracks go through the outriggers that go to the rockers.

The original plates aren't any more than 1/8", and the floor panel has a depression in it for them. When run in the standard fashion from the rear frame rail/spring mount to the torsion bar crossmember the subframe connectors fall closer to the outside mounts. This is the inside view showing where the US Cartool connectors welded to the floor.

I should have been more clear, What I was wanting to see was others subframe connectors to see how they looked. So I could see about maybe tying my seat tubes to the connectors, later probably adding a 6 pt cage too.

If you're looking to tie those seat supports into them, you may want to think about running 2x3 subframe connectors with the 3" side vertical.
