So now that I'm an A-body owner again, I wanted something weird/cool to match my tastes and have for awhile thought about using the Hi-Ram intake from Holley to mount on a G3H to push it through a hood. I'm not sure if it high enough to push through, but I would love to have it stick up as high as possible. Anybody do anything similar or a suggestions?

I would actually love to know it that high ram fits under the A body hood?

I do know they make plenum spacers and chillers for that intake. So If you wanted to make it taller, there are ways.

Sure you can.
Mancini's 9" tall carb manifold, a two inch carb spacer, a carb, a velocity stack, and a non-drop air cleaner on top.
Did something similar for giggles on my friends 440 powered Omni-charger. The aircleaner was higher than the roof.

You can also get a tunnel ram top for that manifold. I have been contemplating that for my car also. Still fuel
Injected but it would have that old
School look to it

Yep, thats another way. A plenum spacer, the tunnel ram top, a couple carb spacers under a pair of throttle bodies, and a couple velocity stacks. Probably nearly roof high.

It's a bigger problem to keep gen 3 **** UNDER the hood of an A Body. I have a Prefix/Arrow short single plane on a 6.1 in my son's 73 Scamp. No spacer, 750 DP carb. No air cleaner will fit. No drop base, NOTHING. I had a 6.1 based 426 in a 74 Swinger with Ritter drag pak knock off intake. TOTALLY through the hood. That Holley Hi Ram will absolutely require a hole.

Just get a 8" Rude Ron blower spacer for this. It'll be higher than the roof.

When I was younger and had my first Demon need to go thru motor vehicle inspection here in the Socialist state of Connecticut, the inspector broke my stones because my hood scoop blocked the tip of his finger from being seen on the hood edge. I could only imagine what that dork would had said if I had that above configuration. He failed me on multiple items including the high beam indicator was factory red and he said it should be blue. So bad that my Dad, a State trooper went back with me and we got the same inspector. When the guy started giving me more bull my dad swept back his over shirt to expose his badge. I was immediate passed and moved to the head of the line for my plates. Lol! Good times.

Yeah that guy was a dick just to be a dick. I caint stand those type people.

I failed my first driving test, in summer of 1969, using Mum's car no less; because, the instructor said, he never passes a first-timer.
I came back a couple of days later and with a different tester, aced it.
Bin raisingCain ever since.
I know, not the same thing; but
"being a dick just to be a dick",
just reminded me of that dick.
