The Dutra book is very worthwhile for any slant lover having all his info in a book is great. I did not know if an be ordered direct from Dutra or not.
People are still rodding flat heads.....Its just a niche motor that people love for all its negatives. You make more power modifying, but the return is never worth more than the novelty of it....hell, a 225 Crankshaft weighs 85 lbs for christs sake.
Howard Davis made a billet head, for His "Hillside Six" drag car. Don't recall if He has a program for that, but that's a race only item.Just a thought , how about a cnc program for a slant head ? that would be cool .
Why hasn’t anyone cast them out of aluminum. Like reverse engineering it? I’m saying this knowing little to, safer to say none about foundry work. But, if we can land on the moon? A slanty aluminum head surely can’t be that hard or that expensive? Just a thought. I would buy one as long as it wasn’t over the top expensive.
Thanks for the explanation. I understand, but there would be weight and heat advantages, as well as possibility for making improvements for intake, and exhaust flow. I’m saying for a street car, not racing applications. It just seems like for mild upgrades it would be beneficial overall. But again maybe I should keep my trap shut, cause I definitely don’t know enough to be trying to sound like an expert.
True.! I was just wondering if trying to make a cast from an iron head and trying to make improvements on the cast.? Nothing radical, just improve. And get the extra benefits of just being aluminum. If I had more money then sense I would go for it. We need Doug to make it happen.!
Was the Aussie "slant hemi" based on the US 225 block with their Aussie hemi head? Just wondering. I know it very ran well!Well kinda the point I was trying to make is, who in the world would grab the project only to make "small" or "moderate" improvements? All that $$$$ for R&D and everything else for something that flows a little over 200 CFM? Now, 250 plus, I might could endorse.
No.Was the Aussie "slant hemi" based on the US 225 block with their Aussie hemi head? Just wondering. I know it very ran well!
