I like the Pro-flo EFI package from Edlebrock but the distributor is too tall and I would have to elimate the wiper motor. What other solutions are out there?

Move the wiper motor?

Edit: Looks like the Holley Sniper might be my best option.

Will a 3 speed motor have enough clearance? It sits differently than a 2 speed. I need to make mine 3 speed to clear the 6 pack air cleaner.

Not sure but after looking at photos of the engine bay I don't think it will work. I just bought this car and it's being delivered next week. I'm just trying to get things organized before the car arrives. I've had a carburated muscle car in the past and I don't want to go that route again.

The motor potion of the 3 speed unit sits flat against the firewall, and the gear case is fairly thin. Looks nice under there by the way.

Thanks. You may be right. I've contacted my shop and I'm waiting to hear back from them. I'll let you know.

Another option to look into for a wiper motor is a late model wiper motor plate off something like a 1985 or later Diplomat and the motor from a mini van.

It is still a 2 speed motor and the wiring is the same same but you will have to splice the wires since the plugs are different. The one unknown is, I don't know about the arm. I think it will work, but I didn't get mine mounted. I remember looking into it and I think it would work, but not sure.

Motor kind of looks like the below, but would be oriented differently.

Based on the posts following the one linked above, sounds like @moparmat2000 might have done this in the past?

OP, you did not give enough info on what you want for us to tell you what the best solution is. Imo the best solution is a completely tunable standalone multipoint efi, (AEM Infinity, Holley dominator, megasquirt) but the level of knowledge, or learning, required is high, much higher learning curve than making a carb work. I’ve done them and again imo it’s worth it. But you have to put the time and research in. If you just want to ditch a carb and plug on an EFI for bragging rights and are not interested in putting the effort in, then a fitech or sniper fits the bill and can do what 90% of most people are after. In all seriousness if you dug in to carburetor theory and tuning you might be shocked by how well a carb can run. Once again all of this is my opinion.

I totally understand what you mean. All I'm looking for is a simple to use setup. I'm not planning on racing this car or driving long distance with it but I've had issues with vapor lock in the past when I had a Holley double pumper on my 351 cleveland. I also had issues with power valves blowing out etc. I spent a lot of time fine-tuning that carburetor and I just don't want to go through all that again. I think the Holly sniper might be my best option as I can retain my current intake, distributor and wiper motor

For what it's worth my perception is that Holley has about 10X more support than any other EFI including Ed

It sounds like the sniper would be a good option for you. Your fuel system would have to change, and you will have some setup to do but they are pretty straight forward. FWIW some of these TBI fuel injection systems do not like to run on certain dual plane intakes. Worth doing a little research on before buying. Holley has good tech support as well as a good forum. And there are a few members here with some experience with them that are willing to help out.

Thanks. I've been reading about this system concerning my intake. If there's room under the hood I can use a spacer. Otherwise I'll have to cut out a little of the plenum spacer.

One member shortened the Edelbrock distributor so it would fit better. I don't think it was too difficult but would probably be a couple hundred bucks to pay someone to do it.

i know a few people using the sniper and they love them.. the thread on this site about the edelbrock makes it sound not worth it to me..

I've been a huge proponent of fitech, but it took me two weeks of emailing them every 48hrs in order to get any response from customer service.

If I did it again, I would go holley in a heartbeat. That said, not sure the tbi systems are any better than a carb for a mild motor.

I do like having my timing control with the efi, because I can make adjustments rapidly and do things not possible with a distributor. I just wish I could get more than 45 degrees worth for cruise timing.

Looking for a standalone unit. What can you tell me about them. Want to be able to adj. fuel for each cylinder.

What do you want to know? I certainly am not the authority on all of the different stand alone efi systems available, but I can tell you if you’re interested in individual cylinder fuel and timing control you are going to need one of the more advanced ECUs. Holley dominator, megasquirt, motec, and AEM infinity just off the top of my head. I’ve personally used and tuned the AEM infinity (my favorite) and the holley dominator.

I think the best solution is a carburetor, but that's just me. lol

I can't seem to find the info I need on the Holley Dominator. Do you have any actual directions on this system. On the Holley can you get into the maps or just the injectors? Thanks. ps I don't know much about all this.
