My first head gasket adventure was a real eye opener. The usual, blowing/sucking coolant, ect. Got the 6-10k estimate and about fell over. Just out of warranty of course. Hey, I'm a gear head I'll do it myself. Strip the truck from the firewall forward and tried to lift the cab with 4 employees. Well, couldn't get it high enough with the engine in the way. So we took the bed off, and scooted it back. Now we have a $65k truck torn the **** apart. Steering, brakes, heat, ac, electronics, EVERYTHING torn apart! Cab sitting where the bed was. Resurfacing heads ect. Half way through I realized that $10k was a bargain. I highly doubt any of the diesel fans here have ever had a real repair.
I've owned all 3 brands, they all have issues. Although I'm currently done with diesels, Duramax were the best to me. The only issues were the cp4's and very early injectors.
