Have you heard any successful stories with cal tracs? Are you running a drag radial or just a street tire?

I have seen many people here and in person with good things to say about the Cal Tracs. There not as adjustable as the Assassin set up and do not have the forward pivot point but do work very well.

I'm running 295/60/15 drag radials, original slant 6 springs, clamped at the front, sliders and 3 way adjustable drag shocks. Drag shocks on the front and v8 torsion bars.

This was my 7.183/106.5MPH 3rd pass. You can hear me get off the pedal twice when coming off the line. I'm sure my 60' was probably 2 seconds or worse. Engine pops a couple of times also (that is concerning) and then there is a huge backfire after I cross the line and let off the gas completely. Also on this run I was close to 12psi according to my logs. I think at 107MPH in the 1/8 I must be pushing close to 600HP. What do you guys think? Not bad for a JY 5.9 Magnum.

Have you considered super stock springs? They work great on my Dart and a lot cheaper than a caltrac set up. My 60 ft has been in the 1.50s which would put you far into the the 6s 1/8th mile.

That's a very good idea. I guess I could try them and if they don't work, sell. What shocks do you run with yours? I'm currently using the Competition Engineering 3 ways.

I also run those shocks. If you don't like the jacked up or stink bug look of the SS springs just run lowering blocks. I run a 1 inch on the drivers side and 2 inch on the passenger side. Keeps her level and low, spring still seem to work as advertised.

SS springs installed. These are the 3400# models. A buddy had them leftover from his 71 Dart build. Price was right and they were near by, so giving them a shot. I removed the bottom leaf from the pass side. So it's like 8 leafs on pass side, 7 on the driver side. Had my front hubs redrilled to 5x4.5 by Moser also. Put the Draglite knockoffs on.

TnT tonight. Hoping for traction and quicker 60'.

Damn nice run. With that mph you have the Ability to run some 6.30-6.40 in the 1/8.

Apologies for boring you guys with these details, but I got get them down for my personal record before I forget.

So, I only made one pass last night after driving the car to the track in traffic for an hour. Got there, went through inspection, popped the hood to let the engine cool a little and drop the tire pressure on the drag radials when the call went up for the "hot cars" (real cars, not ricers and pick-ups) to go to the staging lanes. They let us old hot rodders cut in line. So, didn't get a chance to really let the engine cool down but it did settle to about 192 before I ran. Overall the run felt good. Decent burnout, launched off the two step with about 4psi of boost, peddled it a little off the line to try and keep it stable and not break the tires loose. Run felt strong. I'm a little leery of my lean AFRs under boost and the water/meth doesn't seem to offer any appreciable decrease in air intake temp. On top of that the engine died at the end of the run and felt like shit on the way back home, like it had a terrible miss or dead cylinder. That's why I didn't make any more passes.

Eagerly waiting the update on the miss. Hopefully didn’t hurt it.

On a gut feeling I checked the distributor. The phasable rotor was lose AND the distro hold down was loose. I think the whole thing got shook into a too advanced position. I reset everything and put the timing light on it to get the timing squared away. It's much better now (not 100%,) but I still need to recheck rotor phase and probably reset IAC setting on the Fitech.

They let you run 6.90s with no roll bar? Nice numbers by the way!

I would too with the IAT on fire.

Worst thing about a W/I system is that you're never really sure its working. I say your's may not be.

Whats the deal with the A/F?

Trim % goes up 10% but the measured A/F never changes. +3% to +14.8% but A/F doesn't move more than .1.

Then the the Trim % and Learn % flat lines but the measured A/F continues to shift Lean.
You had a Limit jacked up before, is it a similar situation that's clipping the Learn and Trim % at 3.1 and 14.8 respectively?

Thanks. It's not a sanctioned IHRA/NHRA track. Seatbelt, DOT tires, helmet if faster than 8.0. That's it.

Actually, the next thing I'm going to do is probably put the light spring back in the waste gate, put street tires on it and tune it for pump 93 and work on getting the meth injection squared away and casually enjoy it on the street. I'm happy with my results so far, but don't want to push this motor any further. 107mph in the 1/8th is making a lot of steam and is plenty of power for me. Getting the damn thing to slow down in a short shutdown area after a run is a challenge now and a bit scary.

Before swapping to your new rad - did you have a 22" radiator or 26". Interested in what you were using for a fan setup

I'm guessing due to the added heat in the engine compartment with a turbine cranking in there, you had to change the system out. Before you turbo'd the car that system was sufficient?

Actually it always seemed to struggle to keep it cool even when it was NA with semi fenderwell headers. This BMW radiator does a much better job.
