Because they didn't make a bajillion of our cars. Heck, you can build a brand new Chevelle from all the new parts available for them.
Cus there **** boxes. Might as well be a Vega…

Sorta what I was eludin to. LOLCus there **** boxes. Might as well be a Vega…
Yeah, I wouldn`t kick a 66, 396 SS Chevelle out of my driveway if reasonably priced.
I know some Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes collectors and they make our mopars look very inexpensive.
It's all relative, but well worth the honor and privilege of owning a car as fine as a mopar.

I paid $600 just for door panels for my 1973 dart swinger back in 2004 and they were junk in 6 months. This is crazy. Every part I buy for my car costs this much. What tha actual ****? Why can’t they do this for us?

Zero.Questions for all of the mopar guys on here. How many mopar small blocks came with a solid lifter cam and 2.02" intake valve's from the factory? I like mopars too, but I have to admit that both G.M and Ford had more performance options for their small blocks than mopar had. I'm not talking about swapping parts from engine to engine I'm talking about off the show room floor. Just think how it might have been if you could've got that new dart or duster with a 318 4 barrel.
I agree with all of you guys. Just kinda hurts when ya look at the cheap ford and Chevy parts. Love my car, but I’d love it if it was a bit easier on my wallet
When your big blocks dominate, your small blocks may almost be an afterthought. Even so, Chrysler did pretty well with the 273 and 340. The 340 was drastically underrated, and Chevy small blocks were notoriously overrated. And the last year of the 327 was 1968.Questions for all of the mopar guys on here. I agree with what you're saying, but don't you think that it would have made a difference in the popularity of mopars if you could've bought that new dart or duster with a 4 barrel optioned 318? I'm no mopar expert here, but wasn't the 340 a option on the duster, ie wasn't the 6 cylinder and the 318 pretty much the dominant engine in the dart and duster? When your big blocks dominate, your small blocks may almost be an afterthought. I don't know. There were many performance engines in A-Bodies from Hyper pack sixes to 273s, 340s, 360s, 383s, 440s and Hemis. How many more do you need? When the 318 was a performance engine the real big guns were gone. 340, 440, etc.I agree with what you're saying, but don't you think that it would have made a difference in the popularity of mopars if you could've bought that new dart or duster with a 4 barrel optioned 318? Could be. We had a '72 with a 307, and I know the 283 and 327 were dead and buried by then. The point was the last hipo 327s were gone before 1970.Pretty sure I had a 1970 Chevy truck with a 327 .
I used to feel that way but in a way..... with the experience I have with a lot of mopars guys, makes me hope I'm the only mopar there. My eyes light up when I see anything Mopar related.
I'm talking about the small blocks only and the 360 wasn't available with a 4 barrel until 1974. The 273 was done in like 1967, so actually mopar only had one performance engine from 1968 - 1973 and that was the 340. I think that if the 318 had been offered with a 4 barrel in the dart and duster that mopar would have been better offI don't know. Also, Chrysler was aware of cutting their own throat. Would a 4bbl 318, which would cost less, cut into 340 sales? Without a doubt it would. So why spend more to produce another engine that will lower revenue?
I think they hit the sweet spot with the 340 Darts Dusters and Demons, and they sold a lot of them. I'm pretty sure whatever form of cost/benefit analysis they did said to leave the 318 as is.
The 440 and the hemi was a very limited edition for the A body. A 318 4 barrel may have cut into the 340 sales. I don't know how many 340 cars were sold but I wouldn't be surprised if the 318 out sold it. Either way I like my mopars.I don't know. A 4bbl 318 is the answer to the question nobody asked. The 440 and the hemi was a very limited edition for the A body. A 318 4 barrel may have cut into the 340 sales. I don't know how many 340 cars were sold but I wouldn't be surprised if the 318 out sold it. Either way I like my mopars.

The attitude and the way mopar guys look down on what they think is beneath their car makes the corvette crowd more appealing than the mopar crowd.
Yup and the bullshit spouted in this thread confirms that.I used to feel that way but in a way..... with the experience I have with a lot of mopars guys, makes me hope I'm the only mopar there.

Well, you can obviously get a pretty good deal on the interior, so order up. Then all you gotta do is find one. LOLI wouldn't mind having a 1970 LS6 Chevelle with a new interior.
It's human nature. Tribalism is part of who we are and it is necessary in a cooperative species. Even crows and ravens do it, then there is Lions vs Hyenas vs Jaguars. Look at how siblings fight, but as soon as an outsider enters the picture, they stand together.
