LOL.. not even close LOL.. well I do like Blondie but I'm pretty sure the sugarhill gang had something to do with it... I think it was called rapper's delight... One thing for sure not only was it funny but you could understand what they were saying.. kind of why I always liked Young MC...Blondie started Rap.
The long version was 17 minutes and I could make my commute in one song. I used to remember all the words and could "sing along" . Blondie was cool as well. Old school rap was good enough to listen to. Gangsta stuff is just awful. I am 61LOL.. not even close LOL.. well I do like Blondie but I'm pretty sure the sugarhill gang had something to do with it... I think it was called rapper's delight... Again like summer saying I'm not a rap or hip hop fan but I do appreciate what other people are doing... And like almost everybody is saying when it doesn't sound good to their ear I could be for a different generation... Only in maturity and ignorance puts down what they don't understand...
Ya a technicality, Sugarhill Gang's 1979 single hit #36 on the Top 100 Billboard charts in January of 1980. Blondie's Rapture was on her Autoamerica album which was released in 1980 as well and hit #1 on the charts after the single "Rapture" was released on Jan. 12, 1981.LOL.. not even close LOL.. well I do like Blondie but I'm pretty sure the sugarhill gang had something to do with it... Just like the whole thread not a big hip hop fan and not a big Chevy fan but when I seen everybody rushing towards those Chevys I was like oh crap!!.
How anybody can connect the sounds that came out of Mo Town, the black artists of the fifties sixties through the seventies with the derogatory lyrics of some rap music is beyond meIt's good, but it doesnt "rule"...and in fact was the root hook of rap...gangsta rap.
I liked it and I’m 53. Not usually a halftime show kinda person, but watched this one and glad I did.
Run-D.M.C rapped happy.
LmaoBlondie started Rap.
This is why I unsubscribed from politics. But yes I get it
You're missing the point... which was all those songs were later sampled, allowed to be, and it became the foundation of rap .period. no one said one was better than the other or even tried to compare the quality 'which is truly up to the ear of the listener'.Comparing Motown to rap is like apples to bowling balls. I'm sure music can't be your thing. Motown was polished, measured rhythm and blues, some of the best music of the 60's. They had great producers, songwriting teams, and performers. Smokey, Marvin, Aretha, and so many others through the 60/70's. They were the other side of great music equal to rock and roll in popularity. Rap, I don't get, but I'm not suppose to I would guess. I also don't get rat rods, or low riders either, but it's their thing, as muscle era is mine. All good. I haven't seen a halftime show in a long time, so I can't judge what was on. I just know, hearing who is performing, it's not for me.
Hitting the red X is because I don't agree with you, you'll go way farther in life when you learn to deal with difference of opinions rather than act out like a jerk and calling namesThis is why I unsubscribed from politics.
So why do you keep hitting the x button?
It's called sampling, bozo. The great songs... all those contributions made... all musically raped by their offspring and exploited by a lot of producers and record exec's of all races 'if that matters'. If you knew many of the back stories to those artists.. you'd know they all weren't angels either. Music has been around much longer than America and for that matter black America. How lame are you to argue your opinion of what music is better than the rest. Paints you very accurately. Imo.
Sure you will, You'll look all the timeI bet Steve welder has a long winded reply he's whipping up... too bad, I put him on ignore and I wont see it.
