About TrickFlow that is. I bought two more LS heads last night from a young man in the Pittsburgh area. I asked him if he would meet me at Pittsburgh Mills mall, a safer part of town instead of an area I won’t travel to. So I covered some fuel costs and we met last night. We BS’d for about 30 minutes and he hooked me up with a great website to find used parts. He does “drifting” and in our discussion about heads we touched on TrickFlow. The website gave me lots of flow info and he then told me it’s practically attached to TrickFlows building. They must have bought this business as it’s a Tailmatage Ohio address and didn’t used to be. Have any of you guys heard anything about this??? This must be their cnc shop.

I have heard of them before but didn't know anything bout them.. just remember seeing their logo..

P.S. god i should have done a LS swap :)

Why. The more I learn the more I see there’s no reason to sway. Gen3’s are slower than oldschool stuff unless you totally start with upgrades. For every small block ford or Chevy head there’s something compatible or better for Mopars. Blocks are our hiccup but even that is available if you open your wallet just like they have to do. A Chevy buddy went from old school Chevy stuff to LS stuff when he kept breaking crap. Now the LS stuff was to slow for him so he put a power adder on it. It’s now .25 at the most faster than me and a once very good racer can’t make a full race without issues. I’ll stay where I’m at thank you.

Im going through the same thing with my 383 build, one thing after the next. But, we aren’t into Mopar because it’s easy. We are into Mopar because it’s awesome! Hang in there.

Do you have a thread on your 383 build?
It’s just in my build thread for the whole car Project Midnight Swinger

Breakdown:
4.28 bore
Forged coated flat tops
10:1 comp
Speedmaster victors
1.5 roller rockers
Trick flow track heat
Holley HP 750
Mopar purple shaft .528 solid

I was given a rebuilt HP 383, and it turned out to have replacement/low compression pistons. When I tore into it to swap pistons it ended up being a shoddy rebuild(trashed cam bearings, wiped rod bearings and scored mains). Took it to the machine shop for cam bearings and the crank was out of spec. Turned into a new short block, and right when it was almost done I’m having issues with the used speedmaster heads(I know) I bought.

I’m staying positive though, the motor was free and I paid about half of what the heads go for during Black Friday.

I hate LS ****, I just about work on it daily.
Block prep is a pita just to bore and hone. Torque to yield bullshit bolts, torque angles (stupid)
Solid blocks for sure, probably heavier than a 440 block by a few pounds.
Jealousy factor comes to mind, why Chrysler couldn't do some great factory stuff but we have what we have and like John said gotta open the wallet to get the good stuff. But you gotta open your wallet to get any Mopar stuff period.
Jared, you're going to be very happy when it's all done.

I do understand the jealousy factor. And you have to tip your hat to Chevy/GM on their, to not only crate options, but support of after market. But I agree that Chrysler design is superior. The jealousy is one needs to open up their wallets more. Ford lovers are also fully aware.

So my point? It is what it is. And yes, you will get more bang for the buck with a LS option. But not the biggest bang!

I've been lucky with my Gen 3 build. Originally built by Tony Bischoff's shop so I can trust the engineering. Did a rebuild last year and had to replace practically everything except intake manifold and heads. Making decent power to get my 2900 pound duster down the 8th mile at 6.35 @108 mph. I agree that EVERYTHING was expensive.

Yep, agreed. The parts guy at work asked me how much I paid for my heads & I told him. He said I have 8 sbc aluminum cylinder heads up front that cost less than a set of trick flows. I told him to go away lol
There's one new performance engine I am glad isn't Mopar it's the 5.0 coyote every single cylinder head that has come into the shop needs new intake valves, their design is so bad the heat cycles allow the valve springs to pull the stem higher, tuliped valves and beating the 45° seat into a 90 back cut with a wide 15 ° razor blade seat.
Not jealous of that one lol.

I've never heard that about Coyote. But for some reason it doesn't surprise me. Lol. I remember the old days of pulling apart Ford engines. The V8s that had sludge issues? And that Ford smell?

I have honestly tried to be Ford nice. Because our gang of gearheads were Chevy dominated. But can't understand their thinking when it came to engines. Our lone Ford guy would say: "They are engine families." While I'm asking "Why does Ford have 4 versions of the 351? And none are fully swappable with one another's engine components?"

I ended by saying. "I think their families are a bit dysfunctional?" The Chevy guys of course were FAR more brutal when it came to Fords.
