Is this a fair price?

They clearly have the offset push-rod holes. That makes them TA heads.

Now is it worth it? Maybe, but only if you are doing a 100 point, nut and bolt, restoration on a T/A or AAR.

Even then you are looking at re-stamping the block.

The question is, would it all add up to a $20,000 value increase? I doubt it.

As for the sleeve and block damage..... Sleeves are not a big deal. The broken ear could be fixed with Bondo because anyone that buys that would be putting it in a trailer queen anyway. The fix only needs to look good.

I thought the T/A heads had the machined pedestals for the rocker stands?? Maybe I'm thinking of the offset rockers. So a T/A head was a J head with 360 cast into them as well??

well..apparently no one had bid on the auction...

T/A heads are a J head with the intake pushrod drilled at an angle to allow additional porting of the intake...come with pedestals just like a J head.

Most are U or maybe O casting which same as a J head....Pretty sure mine are U casting...

Okay, cool, couldn't remember, prob would if I ever owned a set, lol. Is it the W2's that have the machined pedestal?? Maybe that's what I'm thinkin of?? lol

yes..the Race version of the w2 have machine pedestals...the Econo w2 come with pedestals...

Not a fricken chance is that worth the price asked.

F'd up block?? If it was a good block and had all the parts it might get 7500 as a running engine.

I think the only way that it would be worth even close to that is if it was the matching numbers block for your car, and even then it would be a stretch.
This guy has a lot of nerve.....and balls.

I can't imagine that the motor could possibly be worth that much without being a numbers matched motor to the specific vehicle. The fact that there are no numbers tells me it could be anything. How can you prove it? Plus a broken casting, sleeved cylinder, etc... Not a chance in hell would I buy it for even 1/3 of that price.

Wait .... was the engine owned by James Dean's neighbor? That might jack the price up.

Weren't the Warranty/Dealer replacement 340 blocks from 1970-on T/A cast blocks?

I've seen a few of them, they have no VIN stamp on the oil pan rail, and are a T/A casting.

EDIT : I'm not saying that makes the one in the listing special. Quite the opposite, if I'm correct, it's just a plain jane Warranty/Dealer replacement block with damage.

Its a $1000 dollar block because of the thick webbing . The heads are worth the same as any 915 head unless you are going to display your car with the valve cover off. The timing cover is 69 back. the valve covers are 67-68, And you are correct warranted blocks are TA's. I have seen short blocks in crates years back with TA blocks and standard 915 heads.

The obvious plan there is to allow somebody to make their non matching aar or ta a matching number's car. The problem is that if there are a bunch of unstamped warranty TA blocks out there then its not worth as much as he's thinking. If it were the case that warranty TA blocks were only used for warranty TA and AAR cars then it would be very rare and worthy to "fix" a non matching TA or AAR.
that said I have a nonstamped warranty 72 360 in my Barracuda if your 4 door Fury is needing a Barrett Jackson ringer motor! LOL!

Even if I had the money I wouldn't pay it. When I did have the money I still wouldn't pay it. If I had the car the engine belongs too I still wouldn't pay it. Greedy pukes.

For anybody wanting to make their car numbers matching with that engine, the window for production dates is very small.
