I know most of you probably dont follow my build in the new hemi section. I wanted to share this to make sure that you avoid using him if possible. I know recently he did a blue road runner that was very fast. I wish I could find that guy to ask him to check all his weld. I have absolutely no doubt that if I had crashed my car at 150 plus mph I would have died in the crash. That is not being dramatic, that is what 3 NHRA cage inspectors told me. All of them told me to cut the cage out and start over. This is a guy I trusted, I guy I thought was my friend. I took the car straight from him to the paint shop and didnt scrutinize the cage like I should of. He did an on job of welding the joints that showed. These pictures are the backside and bottoms of basically all the welds. At this point he will not stand behind his work because I cut the cage out. I would not allow him to cut it loose and re-weld it. First off, it would never pass certification, second my life and safety are worth more to me than letting this man touch my car to do anything else to it. Judge for yourself. If you know the guy from houston that Mark did his b5 blue road runner in the last 6-9 month PLEASE have him check the welds.

Gezuz Kareesiuwust on a Karutch. I can weld better 'n that 'n I'm old, feeble, can't see, and can't weld. Might be time for civil court.
 
no, they instructed me to cut it out and have it done by a certified chassis builder. I checked with 3 inspectors who all said the same thing before I cut it out
 
I was gonna suggest a thread on the YB, LOL, but I see you are way ahead.
 
So far a half a dozen other folks have hit me on facebook to tell me he did them the same way. When they questioned him on it he told them to **** off and leave
 
You guys oughta all get together and start a class action. You might end up with a nice shop, anyhow.
 
Try small claims and get a letter from the tech inspectors saying the cage was sub standard for use and would not certify. That would be your best evidence in a court case along with the pictures.

Maybe have a real welder look over the welds and give a statement. Hard to defend that type of work.

Surprisingly enough it didn't get as many folks on the bandwagon on YB as I expected. I have been blowing up facebook. Its on A and B bodies. I never really post on e bodies though. I have been trying to do just that. I am running out of gas and time. I have done my best to spread it around.
 
I saw your posts on FB...that's some seriously sh!tty welding. I've only been welding a couple years and I could do better blindfolded. I would definitely try hitting him with the law,,,and if that didn't work assemble a linchmob.
I'm curious how you decided to use his services, had you seen his work on other cars? Do you have pics we could see of the backhalf welding he did on your car? Curious how the quality was on that area.

That type of work is a child welding for the first time with no prior instructions to boot!

This ladies and gent is what happens when you do drugs and weld.
 
Yeah I've known Mark for a few years have been to his shop a few times in Frisco. Mark has raced a 63 Galaxie for many years. He talks a good race car. I do not know the guy he built the RR cage for. But Dave over at Moparstyle has used him to build a few cars. The Texas whale was one of the latest. Mark is getting on up there in age..maybe he needs to quit building. Those welds are CRAP!
 
:sad5:[-( you said he is getting up there in age. I would say it's time to step away from the welder. That's a shame! He was probably good at one time.
Thank the lord the tech inspectors were on the ball. That is so dangerous. I'm blessed to be able to do my own work! This kinda stuff would get me 5-10!
 
Post over on Moparts too. I'm almost proud of my welding skills after seeing that.
 
I see litigation big time,in some "chassis fabricators" future.... Just Damn!

Well, I thought Mark wasn't actually doing much welding for the past several years and someone else was doing it? Maybe he quit and Mark stepped in? I do know know Mark has a temper. I've been to the shop too and what I saw in there looked pretty damn good but that was also several years ago......
 
Awwww, That whole thing about penetration of the weld is so overated....NOT!

I can't even in good conscience call those welds and those gobs of rod are criminal. He should have used some JB, hell it might have been stronger.
