a buddy wants to know what the absolute maximum on cam specs for a stone stock 360 is ...I dont have any idea but I am guessing somewhere around 285 to 295 duration and about 450 lift ...anyone know for sure ?

I think the stock 340 cam is around that, 454 lift I believe That would be the way to go i think. call comp they have a stock (340) replacement that they call a performance cam for the 360. depends on what he wants and the car its going in

i run a mopar 474 lift in my mostly stock 360 - p4452992

Stock 340 cams were advertised with 268/276 int/exh duration with .429/.444 lift. Stone stock 2bbl or 4bbl engine?

Wait! Are we replacing the valve springs with the matched set for the cam? Or leaving the stock valve springs there and winging it?

No only wanting to know the max lift and duration that can be used in a stone stock motor

OK, stock valve springs are being used. So that makes max lift...what, about .420 - .410?
Duration isn't spring limited. I have no clue how long you can hang the valves open before pistons start smackin valves.

Max lift aint much. There are spring rotators on the exh side that severly limit lift.

the pistons in a 360 will never hit the valves because they are factory dished but you go too big and the springs will bind and float the valves thats your only problem i am thinking like a .450 .460 somewhere around in there just to be safe

Thrashar340, You are correct on those cam numbers..but I believe that was for the '68 4 speed cars. The auto's were 268/.450. All the other 340's and the 360 sports were 268/.450 auto and manuals.....I believe. Terry.

Outlaw, That Mopar 268/272 .450/.455 is a good grind for stock 360. Good luck and let us in on what you do. Terry.

You are right. There were 2 different grinds. Actually, the '68 manual 340 cam was bigger yet...276/284 duration, 444/453 lift.

I wonder what the "@.050" numbers are on the manual cam?

Thanks Thrasher, I wonder why they didn't offer the 4 speed cam after '68?? Thanks for the heads up . Terry.
