Long story short. I drove my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Kansas City on Sunday to do some work at my daughter's house (about 70 miles). As I was leaving, there was a bad clanking noise from under the hood. Turns out the PS pump locked up. There was PS fluid all over. I guess the high-pressure hose failed. So, I called for roadside assistance, and a tow truck came pretty quickly. I told them to take it to the nearest Jeep Dealership. If it broke down in Topeka, I would fix it. I offered to follow him to the dealership and fill out one of those 'Night Drop Off' envelopes, but the driver told me he does this all the time, don't worry. So I call the dealership ALL DAY Monday and cannot talk to anyone in Service. Finally, at 10:00 this morning (Tuesday), I talk to a service writer. He promised to check into it and call me right back. At 5:00. I call back, and they say the car isn't there. I call the tow place, and a lady said she would look into it and call right back. Of course, she didn't. I called back and there had been a shift change. So now I have to wait until tomorrow morning. I called my insurance company, and they said that, under the circumstances, they will tow it to my house. IF WE FIND IT!
If both parties claim ignorance, I guess it's time to report a stolen car.
