hey tony that is what i was thinking on the cross member..i remember you told me you was going to cut it completely out.. i am going to clear everything and box it in....yea i have the hinges for the door...been looking at them and how they mount i may just use the stock type hinge without the springs..not to sure right now just been getting some things thought out on it...gonna try and get the bars in there this week then take stuff apart and put it back tog. and go have it cert.once i get that the build will start..lol i will keep you posted on it as you know more about it then others...thanks again tony ...mike

i would use the VFN door mounts, it makes it easy to take the doors off and saves a pound or 2

well off work this morning and went to work on the duster..new to gas welding but man this is the shiiiiit..lol anyway got 2" cut out the cross member and started to box it back in...weld the top and the side was fine..but the bottom is a pain in the azzzzzz for some reason..it just want to spatter all over the place..if i test it is fine..any idea whats going on...anyway will post pics of the cross when done and the welds ..lol :D

make sure your gas is on

hey tony ..yea gas was on .. i think its more of my ground..gonna replace it with a new 1 thats stronger..also new to gas welding so that has alot to do with it as well...lol:D

try welding at a real low angle, like having the torch almost inline with the seam and pull it.

hey bob got your book all copied for you...didnt get to take the car to have cert. sunday been working around the house so much i was ready go back to work..lol damn shame you get a few days off and the wife has more work for you then you do at work...so im glad to be back at work ..lol gonna leave a little early today and pick up a few things i need in the shop ...may give you a call when i get up i tomm. mike :prayer:
