finish painting the struts today and all the bars, painted the inside of the car (whats left anyway) got the ladder bars back in it, and got the wheel wells all button up ..:prayer::prayer:.gonna try and put the rear back in it tomm, then its time to safety wire the brakes .[-o<..gotta pick up a master cylinder, and order a line lock this week..:cheers:.. i can start to put the metal back in the truck area now so i can mount the cell and pump/filter:supz::supz::supz: so all in all its been a good few days and alot of work ...i really need to order my center section and gear so i can get a drive shaft and loops done as well... gonna go with a alum. center section and spool:supz::supz::supz: to keep the weight off this thing.. hope to come in at about 2400 locked and loaded:axe::axe::axe::axe::axe::axe: grudge racing here we come 2013:toothy5::toothy5:

i will have more pics tomm. i took the camera out with me today but the sd card was still in the puter..lol

hey thanks bob.. how you doing????? we gonna have to get together so you can show me how to safety wire the brakes on this thing next.lol:D looks like i may just be going out of town to work for a while maybe next week.. i got a few things i have to get mailed out and a few things to pick up for my other street motor..need to get it together so i can drive that thing up to your house..lol :prayer::prayer::prayer::prayer:give me a call when you get the chance i havent called thinking you may be at work when i do.. picked up my brake line today and the cockpits to go in the side the motor.. gonna look for a double flare tool at the local parts house... i won a cam bearing tool on ebay (lisle tool i think i spelled that right) for 68.00..lol :D:D
 
well got a little bite of a up date on the duster.. i got a little time to go in and start to install some of the metal back in it..its not completely mounted in as i wont to get the stuff to where it fits nice and look nice as well..also sorry for the link my sd card seems to be acting crazy.. camera says wrong format for some reason but its the same sd card i always use.. but anyway here are the links

this is the tin work in the back (truck) area.:prayer:. the drop down in the is where the cell was suppose to go... but i havent made my mind up as of yet.. i think i am going with a rons toilet injection on this car.. by the time i buy the carb run all the lines and pump with a return line, i will be close to 1200/1400.00 i can get a new injection kit for 1600.00 and should be faster then the gas carb by 2/3 10ths.....:D but still thinking it over..so hope the links work and things look good to all..maybe i will have it 10.5 ready soon:cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers:
 
well not a lot of update work on the car.. been out of town working.. but have got my rons toilet set up on the way so the car will be on alky..so now I will have some parts for sale that I don't need..lol hope to have the brakes back on when I get back home (the weekend) I hope...then I can run the brake lines and stuff..thats about all for now just wont to update the postso it don't fade away :D:D
 
well got some time and motivation to work on my car.. so here are a few

got the motor and trans apart installed the mid plate and verta(8" 5600 turbo action)

will keep this thing going as I can and as time lets me work on it..plan to order the header kit real soon.. 2.5 into 2.75.. will take some time to build them as there are some tight places,but I am up to it I hope..:burnout:

oh pics I didn't show are the brakes all safety wire.. I have learned a lot doing this..
 
thanks man I only have a few more days home and its back out of town to work..lol gotta bust my butt while I am here if I plan to have this thing moving on its own power by march...

trying to fig. out what master cylinder to get now so I can run the lines and fitting for the brakes..also looking at the kits for the headers so I can get that on the way home to start building them...gonna put the trans mount in tom. and all new bolts in the motor plate and mid plat as well ...went out and pick them up today..didn't like the look of the old rusty bolts..lolgotta order 2 grease seals for my front brakes..(damn parts store onlu stock new car sh-t now days)but no big deal hell the shipping is going to cost just as much as the 2 seals 5.00 a pcs...went to wal mart got me a dry eraser board to write down the things that need to be done and check them off as I go..i think the hardest part is to come mounting the front clip and doors..:prayer:

new bolts in the mid and motor plate
gonna move 1 of the trans mount back just a hair to line things up

that's how it looks as of today...goning to order a kit for the headers in the next few days so I can get on them..gotta find some nice flanges with the stubs on them to work off of...:D
 
hey bob hope you and rose had a great Christmas... I will post more pics of it.. I plan to bring it up to you before the 2nd.. that's when I leave again to work...lol been busting my butt on this thing while I had some home time....while a little home time anyway.. the wife and I are the beach now for a few days..lol hows the leg doing?????? hope all is well.. hope to see you before the new year..thanks all for looking and enjoying my pain.lol I think it will be worth it all when I fire the old girl..:prayer::prayer::prayer::prayer:
 
well guys im not going to let this post die....lol I got some new parts at home for the old girl....going to try and work on it a little the weekend if I can get the flu off my back....right now I am at a point on the car where I had to stop and get parts.. which is a good thing..so now I have at home the master cylinder , the residual valves,and the hard lines and the line lock, once I get that worked out I will order the pipes to build the headers, and I will pick up a glide trans mount on the way home so I can finish that parts as well...I have to pull the front cover on the gear drive to install the cam button ,(had to order a new 1)and check end play... but getting closer.. hope to have fire in the hole by march(my birthday) so stay tuned will post pics as I go, sorry its been such a long thread:burnout::burnout::burnout:.....
 
:Dgot the master cylinder mounted.. ready to run the brake lines going to drill and install a pipe in the cross brace that runs to the frame rail to run the line to the back so it want be hanging down under the car or be inside the car over the frame...going to place the 2 residual valves right at the master and add a brace to the front of the master for support..

small pic of the master mounted....going to take some old hanger(cloth) and bend up and mock the brake lines before I start the process of bending the real lines...got myself a dbl flareing tool to flare my lines gotta pick up a y block for the back brakes ....:D:D
 
well got the brake lines ran today...man what a job.. will post some pics later.. now I just need to order the fitting that I need to connect all the lines and the line lock...also a vent for the rear and some flex brake hose to run to the calipers...got to cut the lines a few inches from the master cylinder to install the residual valves close to the master but need the fitting to do that ..getting close..lol plan to order up the header kit which is next on the list..pics coming..
 
nice looking duster. I have a 1970 cuda super gas car that runs a best of 8.70 156 for now:wink:


that's riding.. whats the motor in that thing?????im planning a fogger set up once I feel ok with the car....I better get this thing done ..longer I wait the faster they get around here...friend went 4.50 last year:banghead::banghead:
 
well not a lot of update on this car for a while ...but im trying to get back on it and have my parts list for the brakes and will be ordering them here tom.. so I can get back on it...been to the race track and got a lot more motivated lol...also my friend had his new car out and went 4.90 in the 1/8 mile on motor that got me going lol....is old car went 4.30 on gas and low 5 on motor so his new car should be 1 bad azzzzz ride...low 4 no problem .......once I get the brakes done on to the headers ....going to get bob to the house so we can go over all the parts and things that need to be done so we can finish this thing up and at lease make some test hits this yr and set up to the nos for next yr and hope to put it on kill...lol:prayer::prayer::prayer:
 
well couldn't wait called and ordered my brake parts from s&w race cars today we on the way ..another step forward in the build progress :glasses7::glasses7:
 
Hey Mike don't feel bad, it aint been long since I got your old 340 running finally.... It really seems to like the W2 topend, should be testing and tuning in 2 weeks.....
 
Let me know how it runs..should be a beast with the w2s on it....ran very good with the js ...needed more chassis tune could have been faster...
