i bought someone elses mess of parts and while sorting it out iv discovered he was running an internally balanced flywheel with the 10.5 in clutch and cover...since this is a 360 motor ,i now need a 360 externally balanced flywheel so i can finish getting it balanced...any one got ideas as to which flywheel [and or part numbers] to buy..street mild motor so cast is fine...tx ...j

Assuming this isn't a truck, you'll need a 130 tooth external balance flywheel for a 360.

Mopar performance P4529110 would work, $269 at Summit (non SFI)

Or you could go aftermarket-

440 Source sells a billet steel 130 tooth flywheel that has a removable weight so it can be run external or internal balance- $99!

I have one (internal balance) from CAT that I bought new from a third party that was selling some extra parts, but they no longer seem to list any mopar flywheels on their website.

Hard to beat the deal from the 440 source though. I haven't dealt with them myself, but I know of several people that use their kits without issue...

HEY blunblu...thanks for your response.yep motor going into a car...i looked at 440 and there add said evenly spaced bolt holes..im thinking 70,s 360 has one crank mting hole is off..i think ill go mother mopar..nice cars...isee you are cal...im east of concord ..where are oyu located...nice blue...

you can have yours balanced to fit a 360
you just cant unbalance a 360 flywheel to use on a 318,340

Yea there is a template out there that shows you were to drill the holes, how big and how deep to make it usable on an external balance 360. Bet if you Google it you will find it.

I have a few good 130 tooth flywheels here in North Jersey. I'm pretty sure that one is for external balance and 2 are for internal. If you are interested, I can post pictures. Only thing is that shipping might be equal to the cost of the flywheel.

you can ship them in a $10.70 large flat rate box from the post office they just fit (it helps to wrap the outside edge with duct tape to help keep the teeth on the ring gear from tearing open the cardboard, (it is the large flat 70 lb. box not the square one)

concerning the drilling of a neutral balance flywheel, hole sizes are different for cast and steel wheels. different densitys and stuff. IF you had a flex plate with the weights for a 360, you should be able to take that and your flywheel to a machine shop for them to match the balance. FWIW, I've got a new 30 lb. steel flywheel you could have for $225 plus shipping. PM if interested. Thanks! Bob

Thanks! I'm near Sacramento. I do have quite a collection, I just wish they were all actually as nice as they look in the pictures. Its amazing what standing back 15-20 ft will do. :-D

As far as the 440 source goes, I'm pretty sure that all the mopars (except the 8 bolt versions of course) had the same 6 bolt spacing. But I'm not a big block guy either.

Here's the diagram for drilling a neutral balance flywheel. Forgot all about this, I just went straight to part numbers since you asked. Good catch caferacerx.

I forgot about this one too...

KMJ sells a plate that fits between the crank and the flywheel to provide an external balance, allowing you to use a neutral balance flywheel. The plate provides the external balance you need for the 360.

Now, that said- I haven't ever used one, or done business with this company before. But for 17.95, I'd say its worth a try. I have heard of some issues with KMJ, but again, for 20 bucks it might be worth a shot.

They are also listed on eBay, for some added protection. However, they are listed as 383/440 balance plates there. I believe all the external balance items were the same, but again, I'm not a big block guy.

If that ballance plate is made by Quik-time its for a 440 cast crank. I sent them all the info for the 360 ballance but they never let me know if they made one or not.

yeah goe ahead and post the pics...i prolly will order one from jegs...i saw the diagram from tech about drilling a neutrai wheel and the tease of it all is im a machinist have been for 40 yrs...i dont think ill do that tho...thanks for the offer of 225 but i think shipping would be prohibitive..thanks all...j

If you have a 360 you need this drill diagram

The one posted above is for a cast crank 340 and VERY different.

You can't balance a flywheel for the cost of that KMJ piece.

Here are the 3 that I have. The ones marked 68 and 71 are from steel crank 340s and if I remember correctly the 72 was from a cast crank 340. The drill holes are definitely different on the one marked 72.

Any clarification from members is welcome.

I would sell the 71 or 72 for $60 each. The one marked 68 was bought new 2 years ago and has only a little use so it would be more. If they fit in a flat rate usps box shipping would be pretty cheap.
