As some of you may know I am not a very active person here since I don't currently don't have a Mopar of my own. I mostly lurk and read up on what everyone else is doing. It's how I get my Mopar fix, lol. I have posted a few times asking for advice, but today I'm afraid I have to ask for help.
We have a few dog threads here and I have posted pics of my 2 girls on each of them I think. I have 2 Pitbull mix girls (think the other part may be lab or german shepherd, not sure which). I currently live with my family which includes my aunt and her Jack Russel Abbey. Abbey has always tried to rule the house and that was fine until my 2 girls got big enough to stand up to her. Now Hope (one of my dogs) has decided she is to be queen of the house.
Abbey was 5 years old when I brought my 2 8week old puppies home. And everything was good. She played with them, reprimanded them once in awhile when they got out of line, and acted motherly towards them. Everything was good while my dogs were smaller than her. As they got bigger Abbey grew more and grumpy with them.
Now my dogs are 2 years old and full grown. 2 months ago we had our first fight between Hope and Abbey. They were playing like always with a toy and something happened and they went at it. Luckily I was able to get them apart before any real damage was done. Abbey had a puncture on her cheek, but nothing serious. We have been careful with them ever since, not letting them get too roudy when playing and watching for signs of trouble. Things were looking good.
Tonight we had another fight. Hope was walking out of the hallway from my room and Abbey and my aunt were heading towards there room to go to bed. Something happened when the 2 dogs passed in the hallway and we had another fight. I thought this one was going to lead Abbey to the vet to get stitched back up (it seemed that bad), but luckily no damage was done.
We basically have 2 alpha females in the house and they have decided they will not coexist. I need to find a home for Hope. Unfortunately this house I live in belongs to my mom and her and my aunt have decided to live together til the end. If I could afford my own place I would just take my 2 girls and go, but I can't.
Hope will need to be the only dog in the house. She does not get along with strange dogs at all and I guess has only been tolerating the jack russel. Hope is great with her sister, but they have been together since birth. Hope also does not like cats.
That is the down side to Hope. The good is that she is an absolute sweetheart. She is energetic, loves to play, go for walks, and nap near her people. She gets along with kids (not sure about young kids/toddlers). My nephew was 7 when I brought them home (my sister and her kids were living here at the time) and she got along great with him, still does. In her youth she got a little rough with him once in awhile, but never aggressive.
She hops when she knows there is a treat coming her way and quite frankly she is just a character. Lounges on the couch during the day and likes to cuddle up on cold nights. I love her to death and hate that I have to part with her, but I don't see any other choice.
She is protective, but not overly protective. When a stranger enters my home she will bark a few times and let that person know to be careful, but always warms up quickly (a little longer with males, but does warm up to them). She remembers people well and no longer barks at my friends when they come to visit. She gives them love when they come over and enjoys every second of it that they give to her.
She is an indoor dog and house trained. She is still a bit inquisitive, but no longer chews on things that aren't hers.
I love this dog more than I can express and it will be a long time before I get over having to give her up, but I need to do it. She needs a home without the stress and drama that comes with another dog in the house, but I can't give it to her. I will not be putting ads on Craigslist or anything like that (I don't want her ending up in a bad home or situation where someone will take advantage of dislike towards other dogs) and I will not see her go to the pound. I will do what I have to keep her and the other dogs safe here until I can find her a good home.
I am going to be reaching out to rescue centers, but I also wanted to try this. If you have been considering a dog or know and trust someone that is looking, please consider Hope. She is an absolute joy and quite frankly my life. She deserves better than I can offer her.
I am in Arizona and can't afford to do any kind of shipping or travel out of state.
Thank you for your time, I know this has been a long post.
