I bought yesterday a fresh 340 , 30 over , 68 block with a comp 292/501 cam , street dominator w2 intake , w2 econo heads ported & polished , w2 headers , 750 holley , mopar cast pistons , bla bla bla....compression is about 10.7:1, w2 rockers , owner has new w2 roller rockers for sale too , 20-25 more hp i think , do you think that this thing can really push 450 hp / 400 torque ??? Going in my 71 cuda project , wanted a sleeper stock looking 340 , still keeping the 340 cubic inch thing , no stroker for now. Any guesses on a stock stroke w2 iron head 340's hp

How did you pay for that monster?

Jake

Waiting for our first kid , buying a house...so traded my 528 hemi for a lil w2-340 + cash , didnt loose a penny , buyer is a good friend of mine and told me that my cuda will be a killer car with gears and 4 speed , hemicuda tribute was nice but wayyyyy to pricey for me , 71 cuda restoration is very pricey and it came from factory with a 340 and a 4 speed so i was like...ok lets do this !!

The W2 will shine best when you put the screws to them. At that .501 lift, your leaving tons on the table. With the 244@.050 duration, this cam is a hair smaller than the purple 292/.509. Great for stock bowl ported heads.

Are the W2’s ported?

Rocker arms themselves do not add power but insure that your going to get the lift you should be getting starting with getting an actual 1.5 or 1.6 ratio rather than a poorer and less than 1.5 on the stock rockers.

Lift that valve! It’ll crank out the power.

Yes they are ported , it was an engine that was rolling 650+ lift and reving 9 000 rpm in the 80s , engine been completly redone and its freshly out of the machine shop , i was really curious if you guys knew how much it was capable with this little cam right now...

I would go ,solid flat tappet.. Just ,my opine.
Solids : flat crunch reliable, give wayyyy quicker response.. to those heads ..
J.M.H.O....( more torque ,got flow numbers , ...or pictures?)....

I bet the guy that got the 528 hemi is still laughing ! If it was in good running condition.

Man you're gonna love those heads on that engine. I'm running a set on my 360 .40 overbore in my A body. Those things will just keep on pulling. That compression might suck with the fuel we have now a days though. I just changed out my pistons to get it down to 10-1. Much better. As far as HP and torque... you'll have more than enough just put some gear to her and let it rip! I had a MP 509 solid in mine for a while but in a street engine it kinda sucked having to adjust valves. It did make a **** ton of power but that was trouble on the street. So i went with a Comp 268. It was OK but I was always have to tune it with the 11-1 compression I had. Now I have a VooDoo Part Number: 10200703 and it is the best of both worlds. It runs geart! Pulls hard all the way up to 6500. Nice idle, very driveable and my power brakes work. If your going with an automatic get a good converter with about 2500 stall and maybe a 3.55 gear. Those heads like to breath!!! Paint them engine color and most people will never know. I have stock 340 valve covers on mine and I'm running roller rockers so you can hind them and make it look stock. Years ago I race dirt track and they outlawed the W2 heads in the street stock class because the Chevy guys bitched about them so that should tell you something :-)

@famous bob .... The hemi needed 5k to be totally complete , was not running and needed special machining with torque plates to be precise , the money i had in cash + complete 340 w2 motor and a A833 4 speed is good for me , ill be the one laughin , here in canada the 94 octane was 1.70$ a liter , yes 1.70...so feeding 8.6L of 94 octane weighin 850 lbs , no thanks maybe one day but starting and finishing my 71 cuda was more important than keeping my gen 2 hemi for now , if i go back ill buy 426 gen 2 , no need of a 528 for street use!!! If its all good i think that a 3 000 pound near 500 hp cuda can be a rocket too

There you go. I have only ever had one guy notice I had W2 heads on it at a show. I even had a machinist friend carve me out some exhaust manifolds to fit the ports. I wasted a few sets to get them right but so what. 2.5" exhaust with H-pipe flows very well too. Headers would flow better but I bet if I took you for a ride you'd be smiling!

You'll have plenty of room for headers in a Cuda' . I went with manifold because there isn't much room in an A body and I wanted it to look stock. Plus the price for them with these heads is nuts!

..and A/C? definitely a "cool" sleeper

That looks like the same intake manifold I used for a while. I ended up finding a Mopar dual plane manifold (yes I paid dearly for it) and I'm using it now. That manifold will crank out the HP but it will mostly be at the top of your RPM range. Mine was a little weak until it got to about 2500. But still you got a good deal I think. That W2 stuff is pricey for sure. Plus you got a real 340 block! Score :-)

Swap the crank and pistons for a 4" stroke deal, and make more torque then you can ever use. A W2 416 combo is a monster

I thought about doing the stroker thing but I had a perfect standard truck crank and a set of 340 rods so that's the way I went. Come to think of it... I guess it is "stock" LOL. At the least factory replacement parts :)

The cam I have for the W2 motor I am building right now is a .648. And its going in a 4sp 69 Swinger street car.
What duration is the roller you have ?

Can somebody decode me this cam card ? Thats the roller that i have , and my 292/501 is an hydro flat tappet..the guy told me that this one was too much for the street!!
