I you never knock the tree over, you'll never know how far you can push it.
Given the following car specifications: an m71 demon with 493, 701 lift, 1050 dom. eddy heads, 727 with 3500 stall no trans brake, dana 60 with 3:55 ladderbars & coilovers, capable of mid 10-second runs, with a 12:1 motor compression ratio, full interior, and a 6-point roll cage, what modifications or tuning would you suggest to further improve its performance on the track?m71 demon has 493 ,701 lift,1050 dom.eddy.heads,727 with 3500 stall no trans brake,dana60 with 3:55 ladderbars&coilovers,,it,s been in the mid 10,s,the motor is a 12:1,car has full interier ,with 6 point roll cage.

What is the duration at .050 for the in & ex ?Given the following car specifications: an m71 demon with 493, 701 lift, 1050 dom. eddy heads, 727 with 3500 stall no trans brake, dana 60 with 3:55 ladderbars & coilovers, capable of mid 10-second runs, with a 12:1 motor compression ratio, full interior, and a 6-point roll cage, what modifications or tuning would you suggest to further improve its performance on the track?
What is your .050 duration? My 3100 pound Duster ran 10.50's with a 340, 12.2:1 compression, .672 lift flat tappet cam, W5 heads flowing 300 cfm's at .600 lift and 305 at .650. Still using the 2.02 intake valve. The 4600 T/A converter, 29.5/11.5 tires, 904 with a low gear set and 5.13's. The carb is a self modified 850 Speed Demon flowing 930 cfm's with a 2" open spacer on an M1 manifold. 1 7/8 headers, no mufflers or juice.
I'll tell you straight up that I tried a lot of converters, rear gears, cams and even intakes and carbs to get it where it was. I run the same basic combo in the Scamp except it's a MP 360 short block, not much better than stock, but with the same heads, cam, intake and driveline. It weighs 2600 pounds, uses 4.88 gears and 14/32's with a four link. So far in crappy air it's gone 6.60 in the 1/8th at 103 and 10.45 in the 1/4 at 127. It's nearly 10 years old now and pretty tired so instead of freshening it I'm just going to build a stroker short block and have the heads touched up and 2.08 intakes installed. The only other changes are the 2" primary tube headers and 4" collectors. Should put it in the 9's
That post is from 2010 & the poster, Guitar Jones has passed away. The cam size is in the 260’s@050”.What is your .050 duration?
I'm sorry to hear that. Thank you for your response. That post is from 2010 & the poster, Guitar Jones has passed away. The cam size is in the 260’s@050”.

Wow! That's a lot of lift for a 230 cam!Figured I would post my Duster combo here while I still can.
My car ran a best time of 10.4 @ 136 and fastest mph of 10.7 @ 139. My converter was wayy too tight so I was leaving the line under 2500rpm.
All steel, all glass 1971 duster. Unknown weight
Combo is a stock stroke 360 magnum with all forged internals. Block half filled. 9.2:1 compression, CNC speedmaster heads, 227/230 .600 hydraulic roller. 7875 turbo, air water intercooler, 16psi boost, e85. Duel knockoff 400lph pumps, id1050x injectors running at 60psi base. Edelbrock carb intake modified by myself for MPFI. Microsquirt ECU tuned by me.
727 “fully built” from CRT parts. Steel front drum, full roller, CRT RMVB. 9.5 torque converter from Gillece setup as tight as they could get it(too tight after switching to Hy-Gard fluid). 9” rear with 3.25 gears. 275 MT drag radials. Foot brake.

Custom grind from Oregon cam trying to take advantage of the heads. At this point I wish I had gone with a bigger 250ish at .050 lobe, but it definitely works for now.Wow! That's a lot of lift for a 230 cam!
Nice build! I see the lift is at 1.6 rocker ratio, makes a little difference.Custom grind from Oregon cam trying to take advantage of the heads. At this point I wish I had gone with a bigger 250ish at .050 lobe, but it definitely works for now.
