I posted these in my build thread but I guess they can go in here as well.

17x8 Wheels with 245/45 rubber.

aengineguy, are those SBP or LBP? they look really good!

Thanks 65Vart,

They are the larger 4 1/2" pattern. I installed the newer Wilwood disc kits on the front, they don't widen the track as much as the older kits. On the back I used Moser Alloy axles with the larger pattern and redrilled the original 10" drums. Everything worked out great.

rear:

17x11" 7" backspace. 325/45/17 m&H racemaster DOT drag radials.

front 17x7" 4 3/4 backspace. 215/55/17 kuhmos.

That's a great look. What are your suspension mods?
From what I can determine, you're right at about the minimum necessary backspace on the front - 4 3/4" for a 7" rim, and about 5 1/4" for an 8". Does that seem right?

the fronts are maxed out for backspace. they are actually made to fit the newer cameros. i had the complete set of wheels special ordered. took 2 months to get them. the suspension actually took alot to get it that low. when i did my springs inboard i mounted the front spring eye wayyyyyy up into the box and cut the box into the frame as high as i could. on the rear i deleted the shackle set up and notched the frame 1" and installed the sliders. the springs are cal trac mono leafs with 1" lower than stock. the car sits so low that i couldn't get a shock in the rear. i had to channel the trunk floor and make a shock mount. here are some pics.

Sorry, missed your reply somehow. Subscribed to too many threads I guess.

Those are some cool mods. I like how you did it without having to go with a coil setup. Nice fab work. I imagine your diff tube is within about 4" of the frame rails?

I'd think the sliders are good for handling with less hanger related movement. Are they noisy at all?

Happy New Year to all. :hello2:

showtime streeters on a 66 valiant
some guys wanted to see these on the car once i got them mounted, so here's some pics.

they're 17x7 streeters w/4.25 bs sbp. tires are 205/45/17 frts, and 245/45/17 rears.

the car has an 8 3/4 axle out of a 68 barracuda, and has been lowered 2 inches. other than that there are no mods....total width of the rear tires is 9.4 inches, frts. are 8.10 inches. there are no problems with the fitment.

i actually thought the frt. tires would be a little taller, they were advertised at 24.3 inches, but came in at 24. rears are 26 inches.

hope this answers some questions with these wheels on an early a.

beautiful ride...love the black accent!

Woohoo! Was about to start asking about slot-mag sizes for Dusters and what sort of tires, but there's ALREADY A STICKY!!! :thumbup:for OP...

Car year and model

Size - 14"x??"
Backspacing - ??
tire size - Fortuna 215/75R14 - Firehawk Indy 500 225/70R14
Suspension mod - None

Just got my scab today to replace the slow leak (that turned into a very FAST leak overnight after trying to get away with just topping it off)... They didn't have any 215/75R14's to match-up to my cheap-*** Fortuna, but they had an Indy 500 225/70 that matches quite nicely the height (but the width and footprint are MILES off). Will do for now, but must get a cousin for the other rear wheel...

I must say, my new tire looks SO MUCH BETTER than the other, and I've no idea why! 225/70R14 REALLY fills the wheel well out, even though it is pretty much the same tire as the other one, just wider and more square...

Pics to come tomorrow when there is light.

Higgs - I'm getting ready to order my tires for my '65 Valiant. I was going to go with a 225/45/17 on the front, Boss 338 17x8 wheels. Do you think I will have any rubbing issues? I'm back and fourth on whether I should go with a 40 or 45 ratio. My rears are going to be 40. I am curious of what kind of clearance you have with your 205's?

hey melee, how are u?? sorry for the delay, i just saw this post this morning..........

i don't have any rubbing issues on the car whatsoever, the 205/45/17's are 24 inches tall, and fitment is perfect. i couldn't tell what u might run into with your combination, my wheels are a 4.25 bs.

i almost bought there 17x8 w/4.50 bs for the rear, but did not because it would've been a really tight fitment, and didn't want any problems with the wheels/tires rubbling. now that i have the 17x7's on the back, it looks like they probably would've fit, but it would have been tight.

i don't know anything about your boss 338 17x8 wheel, i would say that back spacing will play a part as to if u will have any problems or not. i picked the 205/45/17 because that tire was the same basic size in diameter that i was already running, so i knew they would work. the tire that came off was 24.5 inches tall.

here's the link where i purchased my wheels if your interested, they have 17's, 18's, sbp, bbp, in different styles and are very well priced!

hope this helps.......

That's a nice look for that car. A touch of old school.
What wheels are they?
