Glass crate. Now i have a safe place for my glass. Thanks to Dan for the back window. Unfortunately the gasket isnt useable. We assumed it was new.
No biggie.
So soon i will be rolling it onto hoist, and prepping engine bay for re-painting.

Looks good. Love to see someone making progress

Found a set of patch panels to restore rear 1/4’s.
Swapped in 7-1/4” rear, finally had it on my

Got a good look at underside. Looks ok, will have to pressure wash to blow off loose paint. Not something i want to do,but it seems to be the best solution, as whatever was sprayed on is falling off. Then etching primer and undercoating.

Its back in the shop!
Pulled rear glass and headliner, there’s two little trim strips on vertical,im guessing to trim the headliner.they broke.
Im thinking sheet metal to replace them. Cant really see them but they need to be there.
I broke one just removing it and other i dropped and it broke. Bah!

Stripping parts off firewall and going to pull heater housing and start scrubbing and prepping. Etching primer then a coat of epoxy primer.

So started on firewall and cowl vent area. A few layers of paint are built up in the vent slots, scrape with utility knife,1/2 round file to get the ends and a little sanding to finish it up.
Would have been nice to blast it, just didnt want to deal with the mess.

Cant stand flaky paint in the vents. Hope this works.

Good God Almighty thats a lot of effing paint jobs on top of one another. Looks like growth rings on a tree. I bet you end up stripping 20 pounds of old paint off that thing. I'd use 80 grit on a DA sander to strip it, then smooth it out with 150 grit, and some filler primer.

And for the black- sanding it as best as i can to level off the brushed on paint, feathering the scrapes and cleaning up the birdshit welds. Then epoxy primer. Im not stripping it.
Body is mostly sanded, but as mentioned,80 grit will take it to where it needs to be.

Following the growth rings, looks like it was red, then burgundy, then red, then creme yellow, then red again. Damn thats a whole lotta either cant make their mind up, or a whole lotta owners with different ideas lol.

Three almost same colors, think the yellow was primer of some kind. Or a glaze.

Ok, seeing as i took out the headliner remnants, cleaned the bows and painted them. And numbered as well.
What is my best course of action,
Inner roof panel metal-clean and undercoat just rust paint?
Insulation? Need to come up with something easily obtained.

Sand it, coat it with 2k epoxy primer to seal it, and use that shiny metallic bubble type roll out insulation with good 3M spray glue.

Thats what i was hoping you would say. Have the primer, just need the bubble stuff.

Its frigging cheap online too. I bought fiberglass repop insulation for my 67. I may do the bubble stuff and just sell it. People are using some sorta tape to tape the edges too

Best tape is the tuck tape used for housewrap. Actually theres stuff for poly now too. I just learned there is red and blue.

So,onwards i go. Im postin some in the coffee shop thread too.
A few photos. The jigsaw is a great setup for fine cutting. Thinned the blade for tighter radius.

Can’t make it worse-or can i?
Conduit welded around the lip,1/2” of filler in places. Not for me.

Found a couple wires i need to fix. Someone nicked them with a grinder:lol:
Hear about the guy that poisoned his wife with an ax? He gave her arse a nick...

I noticed that the grill was like the American 65 Dodge Dart, but they must have made the Canadian models of the Barracuda that way. Also, I do like the hood scoop. I'm so glad that you are not keeping the black under the hood. I absolutely hate that. Looks like a good starting point, just keep it one step at a time and don't get overwhelmed with the whole project. Good luck with it.
Huh, I don't see any grille pictures. The Canadian Darts were called Valiant s and had the Valiant front and the Dart rear. The Canadian cars were "Valiant Barracuda's"

Next time i think of it, will drag out the battered grille and take pics.

I love the valve covers and I just got to looking at your build here , keep at it, this is going to be a dandy build :thumbsup:
Had to have them. A member here on FABO had them for sale.

I felt it was time for a planishing hammer. So i built one today. Now i can beat the metal into submission. A little experimenting got good results. Im happy.
Four hours invested.
