Read/New threads question

With the old software, if I visited the website, left and then returned, all topics would be shown as if they had been read except for new ones since I left. Now, that doesn't happen any more. So, how do I "mark topics as read" without clicking on every single topic?

Is there a way to get the old behavior?

I tend to open all the subforums I am interested in in tabs, then work through each of them.
After I finish that (10-30 minutes), if I mark 'all read', I miss anything that came in during the past 10-30 min.

OK - I'll have to figure out a different way to read...could we put a 'mark all threads in this subforum read' button that doesn't require a second step after clicking it?
