I don't have disdain for it. I just don't choose to do it. I like a well done EFI car. If someone can do it and make it work well, more power to um. What I do have disdain for are those who choose to use EFI and look down on those that choose not to as "old" or "stupid". That's called condescension and I'm not into that. And yet it happens every single time the discussion comes up.Again, EFI involves a lot of different aspects of car building which could easily constitute individual sub sections by themselves - plumbing, wiring, tuning choices and just plain turning wrenches to name a few.
I'm not sure why "the powers that be" won't even acknowledge the idea though. We have so many random sub forums already it's not clear what the big deal would be to add another one.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but my guess that it's the typical disdain for 'computer-based' stuff by the old car crowd. I see it all the time. One of my neighbors who "restores" Brand X cars makes fun of me for driving around with a lap top. I laugh cause he doesn't know his *** from his elbow and couldn't tune his way out of a paper bag. People often make fun of what they don't understand.
I'll say this again as well but my thought is that a dedicated EFI forum could actually help someone decide against an EFI conversion for themselves. Maybe they read some threads and realize that it's too much to get involved with and it's easier just to stay with a carb. There is a lot of mystery surrounding this subject and people make uninformed decisions based on advertising claims without realizing what needs to happen for a successful install.
