on my 66 dart, just realized that only one of my horns is working. The one closest to the hood. I removed the bottom horn and tried swapping, and still no good. I even tried directly connecting to the battery, no sound.

So I cleaned it up, no rust, still no sound. Is it possible to fix these or is it trash?
I found an old one at the junk yard, it is bigger and it points the wrong direction, but it works.

ideas?

Beat it on it's flat side on a 2x4 or other board.

Seriously. :D

It could just be dead, but they sometimes get stuck inside.

Sometimes you can whack it with a screwdriver while holding the horn down and it will start working

The horns take a good amount of current, so use at least 14 ga wire, directly to battery. Case goes to -. A battery charger will not work well, and you could damage the charger diodes due to inductive kick.

The guys before me have posted step 1. If it does not work with that use step 2. Find the adjustment screw, use a vise grips and carefully twist a tiny bit in each direction, but return to original spot. Then try horn again. If that does not work, move to step 3, do it while powered, it may make you jump. If it works, adjust for best tone and easy start.

Does it come apart? Basically, these are a buzzer. That is a device similar to a relay, with a set of contacts. The screw adjustment adjusts the contacts. MANY TIMES you can hook it to a battery, and vigorously twist the adjuster back and forth. This will "scrub" the contact, cause it to arc, IE start making contact.
