Stanley Cup Playoffs 2012

Does anyone else think its ridiculous that Shaw from the Hawks gets a 3 game suspension for his hit on Smith?!?!?! Especially when Shea Weber only gets a $2,500 fine for bashing Zetterbergs head into the boards!! This is out of control.. I know its illegal to hit the goalie and i could see a MAX one game suspension because it obviously wasn't intentional.
Anyone else with me on this?

Hard to judge intentions but I think I saw what they based the suspension on. It appeared to me, he had the choice to make head contact with the shoulder or not. Judging by his body position and raising the left shoulder right at impact I say there was intent. Hard call but their job is to make these interpretations. I don't think Smith faked anything.

The one that gets me most is the hit on Alfredsson. That hit to the head was totally intentional and the resulting injury may be what puts the Sens out, not to mention potential long term damage to the player.

I say don't complain about suspensions over head shots. They are deadly and we're losing players.

Grapes hit the nail on the head a couple of years ago , If the league wants to cut down on head injuries ban the use of hard shell pads , these guys are wearing kevlar hard shells on their shoulders and elbows and people wonder why guys are getting hurt worse than ever . In my day it was all soft pads and getting elbowed was like getting hit with a big boxing glove now it's like getting hit with a pipe for christ's sake, it's the same for shoulders a check was felt by both players now robocop steamrolls over the opponent .
Don't waste your time trying to make sense of the Shanabans he was a dirty little puke who speared and butt-ended guys behind the play and only fought the ones that were smaller than him leaving the rest to Darren Big Mac to fight his battles for him , your never going to see any fairness from him .

Tonight's winners are:

Florida beat new Jersey 4 - 3

Nashville beat Detroit 3 - 1

Phoenix beat Chicago 3 - 2 in OT

Nashville beat Detroit 3 - 1 What ?

They were killing Nashville for the first 40 mins.

Yeah, the wings need a better goalie. Very disappointing. Bring back Osgood --- Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy....

Stick a fork in them, they are done...

Now I have to root for Chicago.. I may need another fork...

Grapes is sometimes right but... he's an ***

Shanahan was respected by most players. What idiot would fight the goons? I don't buy the spearing and butt ending comment.
Many great players were a little dirty - Howe... Messier...

Might aswell make wooden sticks and get rid of composite stick while theyre at it. The plastic there isnt meant to protect from players. Its friggen pucks that the players needa worry bout. I was a goalie for 14 years of my life. I got hit with 100 mph pucks. **** those hurt. imagine being a player without the plastic and getting hit with only a layer of no plastic padding. Injuries? sure theyll go down. But your gunna see the life span of some players go down aswell.

Tonight's games are:

Ottawa vs New York

Philly vs Pittsburgh ---- can it be a sweep???

LA vs Vancouver ----- again, looking for a sweep. 'Nucks better get their mojo going.

Bobby hull pumped 100+ mile an hour pucks with a wooden stick but thats a different topic , I never said take away the shells on the chest and back , I said ban the shoulder and elbow shells , and I have been hit with a hell of a lot of pucks , with and with out padding , we wore quilted pads in my day with soft flexible shells on the back and chest and yes pucks hurt , as Roger Crozier's mom told him when he got hit wearing the Sears catalogue "If your gonna come home crying every time you get hurt then you can't go back out " thats where the respect comes in. I'll say it again the hard elbow and caps on the shoulder are for hitting not blocking pucks , I would expect anyone who played the game to know the difference . I grew up in the sixties and seventies and we were animals at times but you didn't see guys go out with long term injuries like you do today .

If you got the stones to spear a guy you should have the stones to face him , The only reason they chose him was Gretzky and Stevie Y became owners , Stevie would have been a much better choice . and nobody respects him now , they show it every night on the ice .

UPDATED: Coyotes' Raffi Torres suspended indefinitely for hit on Blackhawks' Marian Hossa

There's finishing a hit and then there's a blatantly late hit. Which one is this? According to Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres, it's the former. According to just about anyone else with a pair of eyes, it's the latter. (UPDATE) Torres has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL, pending an in-person hearing on Friday, for a brutal hit on Chicago's Marian Hossa -- video below -- during Game 3 of the Coyotes/Blackhawks series on Tuesday night.
After Phoenix went on to win 2-1 on OT, Torres told the Associated Press, "I felt like it was a hockey play. I was just trying to finish my hit out there." Meanwhile, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville had a different opinion. "I saw exactly what happened. It was right in front of me all four (officials) missed it. The refereeing tonight was a disgrace."
Now, the other night on Coach's Corner, Don Cherry blamed the media for stoking all this headshot and hockey violence hysteria. He said it's ALWAYS been like this so everyone just calm down and shut up. Well Don, they used to play with wood sticks, no helmets and beer guts, too, and that changed. And by the way, it's not just the media.
Not long after the hit, future Hall of Famer Mike Modano tweeted, "Really selling the game. No wonder our TV deals suck ***!"
Player agent Allan Walsh, whose clients include Marc-Andre Fleury, Martin Havlat and Patrik Elias, hit Twitter with this: "This has spiraled from out of control to total chaos. Do we really need a player to die on the ice for this insanity to stop?"
Walsh also posted [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0KC91Wuz2k&feature=youtube_gdata_player"]this video[/ame] of a Torres (then an Oiler) hit on Milan Michalek from back in 2006. But you don't have to go that far back. Remember [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeZDE9H3_vU"]that hit on Chicago star Brent Seabrook[/ame] in last year's playoffs?
Whatever the apologists and Cherry lackeys think, the best hockey is hard, fast and clean. Everyone always talks about the Olympics, but look no further than the LA Kings/Vancouver Canucks series or the Sens/Rangers series to find it.
Torres, who didn't even get a minor penalty on the Hossa hit, will now miss at least Game 4 on Thursday in Chitown. The real question remains, will his ultimate punishment send a significant message or will it continue the $2,500 fine variety of neutered justice the NHL has favoured lately?

wasn't Torres suspended for that hit last year , I thought they got him and let Bieksa slide for the same exact hit , either way he left his feet jumping into his face he's gotta pay the price , the problem really as I seee it come's more from deals where Sedin hits a guy from the blind side with the primary point of contact being the head ala rule 48 and gets nothing but the guy gives him the payback and gets a bunch of games , thats where the inconsistancy lies and thats why guys will take the chance , heck theres a lot of money at stake and the guy who plays all out on the edge can see a huge payday in his future but it's again a lack of respect.

:happy1:Think about it................The west is going to yake it all. Either St.lois or L.A..............Im thinking Philly and St.Lou FINAL.......YAAAAAAAAAP remember all. I said it first. St. Lou in 6 games.Canucks are suckin and The pens are to worried about hurtin someone.....mind games.:happy1:

Tonight's winners are:

Ottawa beat New York 3 - 2 in OT - Good job boys!

Pittsburgh pummels Philly 10 - 3 - What the hell happened Philly???

Vancouver pulls out a win over LA 3 - 1

man that game went sideways on Philly fast didn't it . and as much as it pains me to say it Night Moves if the Sens get past the Rangers look out , I would love to see the Blues win it all tho that would be too cool .

Well well well...Canucks get Daniel back and all of a sudden the King's chances dont look as good. Maybe instead of tweeting your welcome to Canucks haters',they should have tweeted thank you to Duncan Kieth. Without him knocking Danien out of the last 6 games LA probably never had much of a chance.

Schneider is the #1 goaltender fro Vancouver!!! I like our chances....

Tonight's games are:

St Louis beat San Jose 2 - 1

Phoenix beat Chicago 3 - 2 in OT

New Jersey beat Florida 4 - 0

Washington beat Boston 2 - 1
