Stop in for a cup of coffee

Awesome job and gesture!
Thanks, I just hope that somehow he can see it and appreciate it wherever he is now. Otherwise, I hope it helps comforts those who knew him who remain here.

He left a lot of friends behind that wish he was still here with us.

Far too young to pass and so many lives he touched in a positive way. He will be missed, but with fond memories always.

Freezing drizzle here. Everything is glare ice. You aren't that far away. Safe travels..

Not raining here yet... Lots of melting today, but still some slick ice in the driveway that didn't get melted yet...

Had to cancel the KFC as the special on the bowls has expired and they don't have the spicy version any more, so I said forget it and went and got some subs...

Just a little nippy for da big island @ 54
And been raining a bit

Ummm... That's a mess. Insurance gonna fix that?

I gotta see... It drives fine, just no headlights or turn signals because the lights were taken out... The pass high beam works. but won't shut off, even with the ignition off... I had to unplug it so it wouldn't drain the battery as the hood doesn't open and there is no key in the pass door, so the keyless entry is useless with a dead battery - you can't get in the car...

The body man thinks they may total is because of its age... We'll have to see what the insurance company says...

My brother says that I could let them total it and get the payout and keep the car and use the money to get it fixed if I can locate used parts from salvage yards in the same color so they can save money by not having to paint it....

I would love to be in Hawaii right now, even at 54° F...... :D

54° F is warm to us here at this time of year...

What you complaining about.... :poke:

We were happy to get to 41° F today after getting down to under zero for three days this week... :realcrazy:

Ya , Butt its cold for here. Exp. when u are not used to it. It gives u da chills.

I'm not busting your balls... But after the week that we had here, that's warm...

I was on the big island once when we were in high school, we went on a cruise that made stops on four of the islands, one being Kona... It was right after the hurricane on Kauai back in the mid 80's...

We had a great time...

I would love to go back sometime when I can save up enough money....

I had a Japanese vendor that I worked with and when he just got here at the end of summer we were talking and I told him that 40° F is cold in fall, but warm in spring... He didn't know what I meant, so I told him to talk to me about it in one year...

A year later I asked him if he understood what I meant and he did... That was after spending a winter in Detroit... When you get used to cold temps in the winter, 40° is warm and we ride around with our car windows down.... That's at least 20° degrees warmer than what we are used to in winter...

But in fall after getting off summer with 70° - 90° temps or sometimes a little higher, 40° feels cold...

It all depends on what you are used to...

Ok now for the update on my day...

The youngest kid is moving out to go live with his mother in NC...

He was going to leave this morning, but we had a few obstacles thrown at us...

First, we loaded his motorcycles on the old snowmobile trailer that my brother had from when we were in high school and gave to my son... But the hold downs that he installed in the original wood floor started pulling up the floor... There were holes on the side rail of the trailer in the back that we were able to use, but none in the front for us to use... So we had to go across town to the good Ace Hardware store and get some 1/2" eyelits for the front to use for the tie down straps...

Here it is after drilling the holes to mount the eyelets on the side...

In addition, there were no safety chain mounts on the trailer, so we bought some 1/2" eyelets with longer studs to go through the main square bar at the front of the trailer...

Here it is all loaded with his motorcycles and some spare tires, seat for working on them, and a gas can...

Check out this chip that I made while drilling one of the holes for the eyelets...

Now that's a nice chip... Just like a curly fry...

Here's one of his other motorcycles that he couldn't fit in on this trip... It's in the back at the edge of the roof where the ice melts and forms icicles...

Here's the icicles that it's sitting under...

Then after getting the trailer ready and loaded, we installed the gauges in his 65 Barracuda and got it started...

I couldn't get any pictures of the gauges as it was dark when we finished...

Good Luck.
Can you get it back without going to salvage/reconstructed status? Here it's a big pain in the a$$ process. I did exactly what you are describing many years ago with a Volare my dad totaled when he hit a deer. But then you got your regular title back. So I just found a matching front clip in a yard. Couple days of wrenching, transferred title to me, registered and right back on the road. I don't even remember needing to get it inspected. I think the sticker was still good.
Wanted to do this with the Magnum and it's a f'king nightmare now. Insurance totals **** at 60-70% of value and there is no way to put it back on the road with a clean title. Has nothing to do with safety. It's all about $s and %s. I feel they are shoveing 'cash for clunkers' part 2 down our throats.
