Looks like a nice project! I'm not too fond of the valiant front, though. But that's just a matter of taste.

Hey, I'm this close to buying a set of X-heads. They only have the 1.88 valves though. What's the story there? I thought all X heads had 2.02 intake valves?

All x heads were produced from 68 - 70. They changed over to J heads mid 70.

So they all should have 2.02" intakes if original x-heads...


I don't know if they did anything different overseas.... #-o


J heads were made in both 2.02 and 1.88 intakes...

They have a pretty distinctive X by the spark plug and under the intake runner. Casting number 894. The seller bought them last summer from a guy who claimed they were from a 1970 or so 340, never touched.
The guy's asking $250. A friend of mine will go and take a look at them.

A couple days ago a coffee shop regular informed me he has a gift on it's way to me. It was an uncommonly thoughtful gesture. It was a p.m. so I won't say who, but I want to put my thanks out there. Yawn!! Just woke up. Refilled the pot. It's up to someone else to keep it filled next week.

Well right now, kind of windy, 80 degrees supposed to have a light rain tonight into tomorrow. Where we live it gets some strong wind at times. Had a 80mph gust last week.
