OK. Here's a question for you bright welder types..
I took a disc from a plow and welded some steel in the center to make it solid.

This thing is 1/4" thick. I'm guessing the disc is hardened/high alloy/fancy crap steel. The filler material I used in the center is just 1/4" mild steel..
The problem is when the welds cooled off, it cracked like hell.. Any suggestions how I might pull off a decent weld that won't crack?
Yucky... I ain't tig-worthy!!!most of your disc blades like that are 4130 chromemoly...... you'll need to tig it
Not a big wing fan,(lot of work for the amount of meat) but man were they tasty!
Heat it first and as it cools you keep the heat to it and control the cool down. Plus I would use a harder rod. 7018? Or are you MIG welding I have been fighting my Mig welder for the last hour.OK. Here's a question for you bright welder types..

Either that or not let it get so hot when welding. Just short spots and let it cool between. Just a guess, something to tryHeat it first.
I was MIGing it... I tried using a really hard rod on it... But it just got wet..Heat it first and as it cools you keep the heat to it and control the cool down. Plus I would use a harder rod. 7018? Or are you MIG welding I have been fighting my Mig welder for the last hour.
