Stop in for a cup of coffee

hmmm just acquired a piece of 4x8 stainless from a buddy of mine, 1/8th thick.... what to do with it

OK. Here's a question for you bright welder types..

I took a disc from a plow and welded some steel in the center to make it solid.

This thing is 1/4" thick. I'm guessing the disc is hardened/high alloy/fancy crap steel. The filler material I used in the center is just 1/4" mild steel..

The problem is when the welds cooled off, it cracked like hell.. Any suggestions how I might pull off a decent weld that won't crack?

Heat it first and as it cools you keep the heat to it and control the cool down. Plus I would use a harder rod. 7018? Or are you MIG welding I have been fighting my Mig welder for the last hour.

I was MIGing it... I tried using a really hard rod on it... But it just got wet..

wow.... get this, they're reporting that flight that killed that soccer team, the plane ran out of fuel. I guess the flight plan from the very beginning was actually longer than the maximum range on fuel that plane could carry and they didn't plan any refuel stops...... :mob:
