It only acts up when started cold.Putting out 6 volts in a 12 volt system.
Pleh....
Hopefully it's not the "Quest for the bad ground"

I sent him a electronic troubleshooting book also. So easy to use even Sparkey can do it!You should check for voltage difference at the ballast or coil with key start.
Don't be like me and go get a fuel pump, and gravity feed the carb only to find the fuel hose to the pump was rotted out.

I need that.I sent him a electronic troubleshooting book also. So easy to use even Sparkey can do it!![]()

Wonder if they put a 12V starter in from a conversion?Starts well with the 12 volt but it is a 6 volt system everywhere else
From what we talked about prob a ecu or pickup. Both are on the way and a spare China ecu.Fingers crossed on the ECU. You can bet that the previous owner hasn't jumped it with a wire to get it started since he put it together in 17' . I am thinking component failure.
My old customers that did a lot of old tractor conversions switched to 12 volt. A pertronix in the stock distributor with a ballast and 12v. coil as needed. Hang on a 1 wire alternator and take the 6 v regulator out of the system. I don't remember them doing anything with the starter. They changed the bulbs (if there were any) to 12v.Wonder if they put a 12V starter in from a conversion?
I should be set. It obviously worked once, now it doesn't. Something broke. The ECU and pick up I didn't test. From what we talked about prob a ecu or pickup. Both are on the way and a spare China ecu.
Now you just need to find some one that is good with tools that can work on it!I should be set.

I know my way around the tool box but I'm not the sharpest pencil in the drawer when it comes to elextrical diagnosis. I'm learning though. Now you just need to find some one that is good with tools that can work on it!
He knows how to use them. Just can't remember where he parked the tool truck. Now you just need to find some one that is good with tools that can work on it!
It's under a Big WHe knows how to use them. Just can't remember where he parked the tool truck.
