You push it, just like I did when I ran out of gas once.interesting , how does it handle on the back roads if you can get that far /
Where did you find that about California requiring retrofitting emission compliant engines? It may come to that if gasoline goes away. Isnt california already requiring retrofitted emission compliant engines in classic cars? I seem to recall Chris Titus mentioning it years ago.
I didn’t call YOU names, but if you think they fit that’s on you.
Ever drive a semi truck at 80k? Or a truck and trailer at 105K? I have. For many miles. If you think that electric batteries will power that junk **** out here where there are actual mountains, constant rain, snow and then blinding heat, all while pulling mountains you are nuts.
And, if IF they can do it, do you not understand how filth it is to build that junk? And how in the hell will it get its charge? Coal fired plants? Nope. Uncle Joe Chiden hates coal. What about Natural gas?? Naw, it’s a form of “fossil fuel” so it’s taboo too because, you know...the planet and the q2 year old girl who is being mentally abused by her family and the media...Greta whatever. So that’s no good. Hydroelectric power??? HELL NO!!! We can’t have a dam. We can’t have all the salmon not making it back up the river because, you know...the dam. Oh wait, the dam is about 1% of total fish loss. And not just salmon. Other fish get caught up in the inland gill nets. No one talks about THAT because, you know...the natives are the biggest inland gill netters around. Just use wind mills. Uhhhhh, no because to make them remotely effective you need massive storage batteries to deal with high use levels when there is no wind. So that’s not going to do it. We have the sun. Solar will do it. Well no, it can’t for the same reasons wind can’t do it. In order to supply demand when there is no sun you need to have huge storage capabilities. So that’s a bust. We have nuclear power. Oh wait, the tree hugging idiots have crucified that power source and since they have God’s blessings in knowledge and righteousness they can’t be wrong.
So where will ALL this power come from? And where will we store the generated energy for times when demand outpaces supply?? And where will all the power transmission lines and other related infrastructure go and at what cost?
I guess we could use local diesel generators, but we can’t do that either because it’s not “clean” either.
So for all the hype it’s ALL BULLSHIT. Once again, it’s about control. If you can’t see that, you need to step away from your computer and do some study.
I’ve been hearing this bull **** about “renewable” energy since at least 1981 and I haven’t see it yet.
I love that it’s called “technology”. That’s the catch all phrase when the media is trying to shove something up the *** of the public they don’t really want. Take the 4 stroke dirt bike. A big, heavy, expensive slow revving pig that is so inefficient that they have to double the displacement to make it competitive.
I think it's fair to say it's turned a little personal on all sides. Who would've thought that good old fashioned hotrod ingenuity would be such a lightning rod. At this point might as well move this thread to the N&P section and let them have at it. Probably any post after this that has to do with an electric conversion is doomed as well.
I thought it would be more appropriate in the n&p section with the comments that were being made. Like if someone put a for sale ad in the middle of the thread. Really not trying to silence anyone in fact I encourage them to have it out in n&p section. I don't really know enough about how this forum works to know if n&p is where those comments belong so probably should have just kept my mouth shut. Sorry if I offended someone.I see what you did there.
Are you saying that everyone has to agree? You know, if I don't like someone, I'm free to put them on ignore. Trying to shame people into silence is not good.
So what if 72 and YR get excited in their arguments, does that invalidate any of their points or the data that they provide? Why do you assume that people here besides yourself are unable to handle any prickly discussion? Stop trying to protect me from harsh language and mean words. I'm pretty sure I can handle it. It's one thing when it's just a few posts are going back and forth, and I can recognize that it's another matter when a discussion gets nasty and never-ending. Often in that case, it's someone baiting another into continued argument.
I appreciate that the above two mentioned guys BOTH presented good information, and I am grateful for that.
Why don't you ask yourself who is in the wrong? The prickly grumpy old guy with back pain, or the passive aggressive (for example, this comes from my own personal "lived experience,") ex-wife who just can't stop poking and poking and poking to get a reaction? It's NEVER EVER the constantly passive-aggressive cheating ***** who gets off on baiting and tormenting others, that is responsible. I get it, the grumpy guy automatically loses with many folks.
I don't care how an argument goes as long as GOOD DATA is being presented. Show me where I am wrong, or sell me on your idea. But, don't lie, or try to sugarcoat bullshit and ignore passive aggressive ****-disturbers.
100% bullshit.
Daimler is putting electric semi’s on the road THIS YEAR. 730 hp, 250 mile range, 80% recharge in 90 minutes. Will that replace all the diesel semi’s? Of course not. They’ll be on local daily routes with a regular schedule only.
Daimler ships out first electric Freightliner semi truck.
But that’s just right now. That’s the thing about technology. The batteries coming out right now are far more capable than the ones from just a few years ago. And there are battery technologies being tested now that will make lithium batteries look just as outdated as lithium made the last generation of batteries. But to know that you’d have to be reading tech papers and paying attention to some of the research currently being done.
What this thread really needs is more guys that barely graduated high school to comment on technology they clearly don’t understand. Throw around conspiracy theorist nonsense like it’s fact instead of farcical BS.
Sure, call me names, I’m some elitist that doesn’t want to explain things. I’ve tried. Post some actual science, post facts that show half the stuff being thrown around in this thread is just bad information, doesn’t matter. The problem is most people here would rather remain completely ignorant. It’s not even that they can’t understand, they just don’t want to. Although there are definitely some that can’t. But it’s easier to *****, whine and fear-monger about **** you don’t understand and don’t want to than actually try and figure out what you’re talking about.
Right but it’s easier to post memes about scary looking crap than actually figure out if they’re relevant at all. Which of course they aren’t.
We could go back to the horse and buggy days, BUT no, there is the polluting gas from horse farts.
But..... Now, the Amish drive the buggy down the road, horse takes a dump, the guy gets out and scoops up the horse chit, they take it home and fertilize the garden, they take veggies to town and sell it to you tree huggers as organic. Pretty cool huh!? hint" they make their own clothes too.
How is that”SOLYNDRA” stock doing?????Your argument is invalid. The Amish reject progress so you cant equate it to electric cars.
His arguments are full of conspiracy and incorrect facts like crude oil is a renewable source of energy. Bizarre.
It seems there's a lot of misinformation and plain ignoring of facts based on how people feel about how the world is changing.
When discussing science and the facts around the upcoming progression of light weight batteries and capacitors all of a sudden a conspiratorial and blanketing of communism fear and population control rears its head. For those of us not in the USA we understand that socialism is not communism, green energy is not communism but anything that goes against the traditional held belief of what the USA has been is considered communism by some US citizens.
Just because you call something a name doesn't make it so. And therefore when you debate facts with conspiracy against evidence your argument falls apart. And yes, traditional fuels are not fossil fuels but come from biomass which is plankton, plants and algae that are about 300 million years old and it is not a renewable resource no matter how much you scream it. Science says no. This is not about facts, it's about how people feel. And it seems the majority of people here feel that their world is changing without their permission. You can't stop progress.
