Thermostat spacer

I didn't even think about that. That's a good idea! I wonder how accurate it would be?
Don't know. You could always hook up one of the heater hoses there (Pontiac used to do that). Then use the empty heater hose location up front for your sensor.

The casting at the cooling ports is not all that thick. If you are careful you an do it. I thought I had found a spacer for the newer "small" housings, but seem to have lost track.

I'm running a spacer on the thermostat housing. I have the probe for the gauge and a probe for the electric fans installed into it...both probes interfere with the thermostat itself...I haven't come up with a new solution yet.

So just keep that in mind

I'm going to do just that. Tap the rear of the intake and put my heater core hose there. Then I'll put the sensor in to replace the coolant hose fitting. Thanks for the idea, I hope it works.

Here's hoping that your intake manifold casting will allow for this modification. Seems like most of the castings have ribs or other protuberances that are going to get in the way of putting a fitting directly over the water passageway in the head.

What about putting it down at the block drain , 2 choices.

@1994redram did you ever get this done, and how did it work? I’m gonna be running into the same issue when I swap on my magnum serpentine setup

I personally never did anything. I'm gonna do lots this winter, that being one of them, but I need to get over the ******* covid before I can work on my Dart.
Sorry I can't be any help.
Murph.

I ordered a Holley Sniper EFI to put on my magnum based 408. The street demon carb has treated me well but I've had the itch for an EFI conversion for awhile. I'm currently running an Air Gap intake on the engine with all of the factory magnum accessories. The two coolant ports are being used for the heater hose and gauge sender. I need a 3/8 port for the EFI coolant temp sender.

I'm looking to put a thermostat spacer/riser in for a sensor. Mopar thermostats from 1978 and older are all conveniently Chevy sized. 1979 and up mopars use a smaller 'stat and water neck. I could have a bung welded in the intake, however I also have an M1 single plane on the shelf I would like to experiment with eventually. So not having to modify both intakes would be preferred.

Does anyone have a source or part number for a spacer for the smaller thermostat? I think slants also use the smaller size.

If all else fails just use a dam tee , I did , no problems !

I’d drive over to the machine shop, and leave the thermostat housing with him. 1” or 1-1/2” thick. For me, he drops what hes doing and rattles it off while we have a coffee and chat.
