Tweak the chopper or?

I have had this thing since 2006, it is a Custom Chrome "Bike in a Box"....

Has a 110" Rev Tech "Evo" motor, 6 speed trans and a 250 series tire. Frame has 4" of backbone stretch and 6" of down tube stretch. Also has 7* triple trees, which according to the calculator I am using puts the trail at a measly 2.6". Bike builder I spoke with said it really should be in the 4"-6" range. With so little trail the bike is a handful at speed....very unstable...and requires near constant steering input, which makes riding it not a whole lot of fun. It also means that when going thru tighter corners I need the entire lane. No matter which way I head out of my place on it I have to go thru corners that require me to use both tire tracks...and given the fact that the County/State doesn't clean the sand they spread in the winter to mid-June or so it is more than a bit risky riding it prior to the street sweepers visit.
I am waiting for a set of 5* triple trees which according to the calculator should put the rake in the 4.75" area. Hoping that it helps with the nervousness of its handling...and also allows me to not have to go over the crown of the lane when going thru corners.
One thing that will not change...the very limited ground clearance. I have torn the sump on the bottom of the motor open several times.
While back I bought another frame. It is a hybrid FX FR/Softail frame.
Plan was to rob what I could off of the chopper and build the other frame. Bike will look very similar to this....

Pretty sure this is the exact frame I have...other than the tube diameter. Mine is 1 3/8", this bike is 1 1/4". There is a local guy interested in my Chopper...We have a tentative deal...he is going to buy my the 140" motor, 6 speed trans and open primary drive that I want...as well as a few other items that I was going to use from the chopper. Thing is the guy is more than a bit flaky.
One of the things that I hate about the chopper is the tiny (3.2 gallon) fuel tank. With the way the bike is laid out fitting a much larger tank on it is not going to be easy. Biggest tank I have found that has the same mounting style is 4.3 gallons.
If I build the other bike I will be using a 6 gallon tank.
Bike is for my own use, Ernie hurts to much to ride on the back.
I have spoken to several folks who have built a bike similar to the bottom one....which is very similar in frame specs to an original FXR. Every one I have talked with said the bike handles very well....far superior to any Softail they have ever ridden. I am not looking to chase down a Sport Bike in the corners...but I am wanting something that is fun to ride on twisty roads.
Any and all thoughts would be much appreciated...

Stick a sugar bear front end on it, you’ll be glad you did. Power steering for bikes.

I am just to stubborn to give up...
Chopper is up on the lift I built. Have several things I need to get done prior to having the Vertiflex (back jacks) put in. Once I am thru the recovery process I am going to strip the chopper down and haul it over to my "friends" house.
And start buying what I need to build the other bike. Not sure it is the right thing to do but...well...it is what it is...
 
How you guys doin for fire out there?
