Walmart is terrible -- or i just have extremely high expectations....

What a slap in the face for the local mom and pop tire shop. Buy tires from Tire Rack and have them mount them? I hope they charge you 3 times the price. Labor rate for tires bought elsewhere should be $150/hour. Next time you want a burger, take some hamburger into McDonalds and see if they will cook it for you. Think about it.
Yup and people wonder what happened to poor mom and pop.

Mom and Pop closed many, many years ago.
So I do my best to order myself what I need and arrange install like I posted earlier.
Pop was a guy I met in 1980. He ran a small place and always had cosmetic blems. We would buy 275/60/15 blems cheap 4 at a time as I had four 8 inch wide wheels for the rear of my Challenger.
Burn up a set and swap them out. 2 spares ready to run.
First time I bought some from him my buddy Mark and I helped him dismount and mount the tires. He balanced them. He had a manual Coats tire and Static balance machine's so we helped him.
I with my new rubber on and two spares in rear seat. Pulled out my buddy todsed a bucket of water on both brand new tires. I foot braked- water boxed it. Then let the Fairbanks converter do its thing. Foot braked to 3000 and then launched it hard. Car still lit up them crappy street tires, spun God knows how far.
When we returned with 4 worn out tires he said he was surprised they lasted as long as they did the way I drove.

I have a tire hammer and two tire irons. That gets it done.
Ive been desperate on the side of the road with a bad valve stem.

Claw hammer, screw driver, and motor oil. Although I have poked them in backwards from the outside of rim. Its a chore.

Then hold up cardboard with left over motor oil that says "AIR PLZ" and hope a trucker stops enough hose.

I pole vaulted that one when Using transmission fluid for coolant and zip.ties after a hose blow.

Made that drive 300 miles.

My expectations are high enough, I've never set foot in one....

In my area there's no other place to buy clothes unless I want to drive 30 miles one way. Groceries, we have a schnucks but they are a little expensive and I don't care for aldis. I don't care alot for Walmart either but I don't have much choice. In my opinion you can't beat the hamburger at Walmart and yes I have tried other local stores. Prescription drugs, it's Walmart or Walgreens that's it.

That is surprising from a stealership.

Were the casting dates in the sidewall reasonable?
When I was at a dealership, we were able to beat everyone on tire prices, except other dealerships.
We got a kickback on everything we sold via the manufactures. There's really only three or four of those.

I feel a whole lot more attractive at Walmart than I do at the gym.

I busted a LOT of tires on one of those back in the day.
Me too. I started out on a manual Coats and I could do about any tire around as long as it wasn't too big. Then came the 10-10. I thought I was in heaven when we got a 20-20A with the air inflator ring.
