Well, another reason to skip Wal-Mart

Still, I wouldn't mind taking that beast of yours up to 30mph though, I'd just be afraid to jackknife it. Keep em' safe and right side up, and have a Happy New Year!!! Geof[/quote]

Adriver:
I have a friend who has chiahouas, in fact they breed them and sell them. Most are very mild and even tempered dogs, but some are nasty, yappy, and bite etc. How do the store owners differentiate beetween these ones and the good ones? Would you take someone's word on this? How about if you took your dog to a house where there was a bad mannered dog there and the owner said that no, he won't hurt your dog, would you trust him? This is what these stores base this decision on, a dog or any pet will react to anyone differently including kids, other pets etc. when they are in that situation.
On the other hand, service dogs are extensively trained in this area and are socialised to all of these potential circumstances before they become service dogs, and are marked as such, as well as harnessed properly. You say one of your dogs is a service dog, so you should know this.
I love our two small dogs, and the wife shares your opinion somewhat, but we have had our share of mishaps in a store and we no longer take them in or we leave them at home. The seporation anxiety angle you profess is a lot of hogwash if you train them right, that goes for any pet. period. If you can't leave them alone for a few hours, and the're traumatised by this, it's a training thing just like kids.
On another point, why do people need to carry concealed weapons in stores? I just don't get it? Let me know.
Finally, what's the matter with shopping at Wal-Mart? So they are big and i've seen all of the statistics stated earlier, so it's no surprise that they can compete and beat most people's prices because they buy in staggering volumes compared to the smaller stores. I thought that it was the (North) American way to compete, undercut, and squash the competition, what's everyone complaining about? I would rather buy from a small business myself, but if they can't come within 20% of the cheapest price weather it is Wally World or somewhere else, what choice do i have? Money is money.
That's reality, and that's business. Why else do we shop online or try to haggle the guy down that's trying to sell a car or parts on this site or anywhere else?
Are we all hyppocrites? I guess some are.
You decide.
Just my 2 cents. I'm sure i'll hear about it!

Alan, Alan, Alan, you didn't listen to my advise did you????LOL!!! Maybe I was a little late with it, but it's still good for next time. And how did I know that picture was coming??? The paint job on the front says it all!!! "Turn that frown upside down"!!! At least I'm glad to see that someone took the time to make a front page story out of it, I wouldn't want you to miss out on the credit for that move!!! I'm also glad that adriver has a sense of humor and allows this thread to go on. I'm calling off the "dogs" on adriver everybody, lets leave this issue at a truce, maybe our "friends" over in the middle east can learn from this thread that we can agree to disagree and still be friends!!! Kiss the wife, the kids and yes, the dog too and lets make '09 a better year for us all!!! Geof

swinger 340,
I’ll let you know if the BW switch works. The Duralast worked. But just barely.

dietz diggler,
Now that was a good post. And not at all too long.
Unlike this whole thread.
I don’t carry the dog often. Just the occasional trip. (see below). You point is well taken that it is unusual to have a Chihuahua with me. But so is your Mopar. And you must admit that having a dog with you is NOT unusual. And people taking dogs with them in the car or having them in public for that matter is not odd. Glad for the entertainment. People should lighten up. Calling me “angry” as some have might be a trick.
And speaking of treats, beware of dog treats made in China (Thanks again Wal-Mart). Considering what they put in people food from there, no telling what is in the dog treats.

Alan672b,
Hijack and drive on Bro.

And now to the rest.
This was a multi pointed post. It helps to be able to hold more than one concept at a time.
Or one can be confused.
Maybe even call it gibberish. (If that is your goal.)

Ok, off the top of my head.
Could be wrong.
One person thinks all post must be automotive related.
(Or at lest he doesn’t like this topic and slam it because of that. And being a newbie hasn’t seen some of the automotive relate quarrels)
One person gets upset because this thread is not about a serious subject.
(There’s a political forum but some people don’t like that. And this thread doesn’t contain a serious topic?)
One person gets upset because they glue their brain to the part about taking dogs into stores.
(Pay real close attention to the title and don’t read into it or change the words).
One person only sees it as an anti-Wal-Mart post and ignores the dog facet.
And then people besmirch my honor about motive.
(When all else fails, go ad hominem.)
Can’t make everyone happy.
Except with a T and A **** post.
I did see the F bomb in a post recently. Everyone thought that was a cool picture. I had seen it already. Old news. Wasn’t even that funny. Just crude.
What happened to keeping it fairly clean? I have some good ones to post.
Opps, never mind.

Warning to newbies: This board is sort of like a club.. Or perhaps it would be better to compare it to a pack. There is a pecking order. Don’t get out of your place in the hierarchy. Or sniff the wrong rear.
That’s not to say it’s not a great board. Best there is. It works on the honor system.
People should be treated with respect is the rule. But beware. Controversy can cause problems for the mods..
And in this world, people do bait you. You can get booted.
And not unjustly from what I have seen.
For those of you paying attention you’ll notice that someone thru a snit and left. Now the surrogates might show up. And I won't beat the same dead horse. Or beat a dog at all.

Sorry to have to point it out again.
The first time it was put differently for a different answer.
Chihuahua’s are sort of like special needs children. Being small is different. The Westminster Kennel people recognize this. They have to be touched differently in show. They don’t understand “heavy handed treatment”.
Imagine a world, if you will, in which pretty much everything is bigger than you.
And can either step on you or eat you.
How would you act? You bond with something big to protect you.
And you are cautious of everything.
The family member this dog was bonded to recently died. (Not looking for sympathy. Just the fact.) So I’m letting her be with me. To bond.
“Silly” reasoning to some.
And just a part of it.
.

Bottom line go get yourself a REAL dog,and leave that sissy *** thing at home...

And just to refresh one’s memory if it seems “fishy” and someone want to take something out of context.
“Well, another reason to skip Wal-Mart.”

It’s simple.
“No Pets”.
No dogs.
No cats.
No little boys carrying frogs.
No gold fishes.
No turtles.
No gerbils. (There’s a loaded one. See “the bottom” of this post.).
Zip, Nada, Nothing.
Pockets will be checked.

But if a persons has SARS, Swine Flue. Come on in. That’s ok.
(Fleas and body lice tolerated if non-pet type.)
You will comply. We have the market. After all we ARE WAL-MART.
WE HAVE “COMPETED”.
(Would working with the Chinese to dump TV’s on the American market count?)

Dartnut,
This post is sort of for you. Sorry, I don’t have time to go into the “right of self defense” question you asked. (I don’t think those were your exact words. But there is the concept. Not a simple issue either. Do people like to find technical faults in testimony just to prove a case?) Maybe someone else can follow up. Hard to say what category things fall under sometimes. Wouldn’t want to get “POLITICAL” here.
But “competition” is a loaded word and should be researches. (Like a gun).
Video appropriate to this thread on SO many levels. (And "sissy").

Adriver:
I understand you completely. You are right and everyone else is wrong.
Perhaps you missed the point of my thread and i'm sorry if i insulted your intelligence or political views.
I'm all for freedom of choice and all, if you don't like a store or any other establishment for that matter, for whatever reasons that's up to you to not patronise it, that's a given for everyone.
So what's your point? Really?
I thought it was a debate on the topic of Wal-Mart and dogs allowed in stores in general, wanting everyone's views. (not just yours)
Now i'm sure it was intended as a joke to see how many responses you could get and soley for entertainment!
Cudos to you, you had me going there for awhile!
If not, i'm sorry i made you mad.
Tom.

Adriver, the gun question wasn't for you specifically, it was intended for anyone wanting to respond to the concealed weapon in a store topic totally unrelated to your story. Or is it? Is it all about the freedom to bear arms right that you have in the U.S.A.?
Someone let me know, it's not like that here in Canada.
We can't carry concealed weapons here at all.
Tom.

Sounds like you're going through a tough time. I know how that is. I hope things get better soon. We all have our opinions about things, to which we are all entitled. Sometimes the way we say them isn't so great, I'm certainly guilty of that. Anyway...managed to change a dash bulb today. I looked pretty funny all scrunched up but now I have a working oil light..whoo-hoo!

Video appropriate to this thread on SO many levels. (And "sissy").

I guess I'll be the one to ask, only because I like the Cranberries. How is an IRA bombing in England related to this topic?

well thats it im gonna walk my dog :happy10:

LOL....will the dog be on foot or in your jacket ?

Great thread for the most part....

adriver, Some of your posts were hard for me to understand, but I personally can't figure out why Wal Mart would have stopped you for the little one hidden in your coat. Maybe he or she was havin' an "in charge" moment.

Newby......? Rent-a-cop syndrome ?...LOL....JMO

:toothy10: :toothy10:

Maybe we can get stores to require that misbehaving offspring under the age of 8 should be under the parents coat. ESPECIALLY at Wallyworld. (Over the age of 8 the parents should be tased.)

I leave all my pets at home unless going to a pet store (even then, I won't take one of the dogs, he's ornery). The main reasons I have for not going to walmart is that most of what's in there is made in China (so a big part of that $36,000,000 per hour is going to help finance the weapons of a country we could be in a conflict with). Also, where I live, half the emloyees there barely speak english, and it's hard to get a job there if you don't speak spanish. And avoid going there at all costs on Weldare Check Day.

Oh No Dartnut,
The video wasn’t specifically directed at you. I wasn’t going to spend anymore time here but when I saw your post I figured I needed to get back to you ASAP. So rather than go check the mileage on a car for warranty work, let me take time. Yes any thread I start is open to anyone for any view.
I try and keep a good humor about it. And I complemented stroked 340’s post on the first page. When you deal with what many dog owners consider “rats” it helps.
If you detect anger it is not at Wal-Mart it is from people that ASSUME things. They don’t read it all and just jump in. That gets a different response from me. (Hey this typing takes time.) Or they are fishy and don’t consider that there are three types of context:
Immediate, Total and Remote. .
But to attact motives, what ever works for them, I guess.
If someone is allergic, there dogs for that. And that’s not “arrogant”,
(Think Obama’s daughter. Didn’t someone want to include him in the discussion?)
If you have asthma, you might consider an Chihuahua.
There are those in this thread that right off the bat, presumed to lecture me about the cost of service animals.
I don’t know about that?
Well, they didn’t. Next time I’ll take a service dog.

Like pitma455 tried to say there are better things to “cry about”. Then why is anyone reading the board? How important is an A body car anyway in the scheme of things.

Abodyhotrod,
Like he says, “Use your power of choice wisely.” You won’t have it someday.
I’ll try and use mine in the same way.

6paktogoDemon:
Sorry if it is hard to understand sometimes. That is on purpose on my part. It is not you.
It’s me. But necessary. 2 Peter 3:16
(If someone looks in a mirror and there is no reflection they should go back to the coffin)
This is a good site for the most part. But like I said people be fishy and “bait” you to win a point or get a thread closed. (Again: heads up to newbies.)
We should all do what is right because it is right.

My apologies to anyone that I haven’t had time to respond to personally.
Not that your post isn’t good. It’s just not possible.

My guess is when you origianlly posted this you KNEW that this would be a hot topic that invoked the rights of people, animals, and aparently large earth moving tractors. Congrats.... you suceeded.

I guess I'll be the one to ask, only because I like the Cranberries. How is an IRA bombing in England related to this topic?

The first application is the title: Zombie. People behaving like them.
I’m sorry, unfortunately there’s nothing profound there.
Perhaps lemmings would be more appropriate.
Might as well restore a Camaro. (wink)
(Or shop at Wal-Mart)
Best I could come up with.
There more layers, like an onion.
Or this tread.
If someone just reads the first and last, they miss a lot of the middle.
(Gets back to understanding three types of context and not just trying to make a kill with a buzzword. Some just get mad call names and leave.)
Reader’s Digest is still in business.
O’Reily wants pithy comments.
No bloviating.
Most people want things in sound bites.
Give me the short version.
I’ll decide.
“It’s simple.”
KISS
Then, I won’t have to take personal responsibility for my action.
Just tell me what to do.
No thinking.
More and more our people are wanting the government to make the rules for them.
Some people can’t see the connection between a “private” company and government rules buried in the onion.
Or don’t want to because of how people are.
That’s the reason for the rules.
It’s just a comparison. Doesn’t prove anything, I know.
But it IS relevant.
Next think about “conflict”.
And the layers go on.

“But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.”

Actually, the County Board of Health prevents animals inside stores where food is sold. The store can be fined or shut down for infractions.

Keep your dog at home and get a glue type lint roller to remove the hair or burn the sweater!

Tom.

I feel your pain.
And I hope you understand that the video wasn't directed at anything you said.
(It had a dog and guns in it. Just another layer.)

My guess is when you origianlly posted this you KNEW that this would be a hot topic that invoked the rights of people, animals, and aparently large earth moving tractors. Congrats.... you suceeded.

:-D Now thats funny! I couldn't believe it took so long to get to the tractors.... some ppl are slow I reckon. It all makes perfect sense really.

I take my dog "pizza butt" everywhere with me,even wal mart, she'd be mad as hell if I didn't take her.I roll the windows down enough for her to have plenty of kewl air.man I hope nobody breaks out my window and steals my dog.....I'd miss her
