What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
When I disassemble my car many years ago, I removed the u-joint from the drive shaft. For some stupid reason, I re-snapped the c-rings back onto the bearing caps. So now, there's nothing to hold the caps in place while I beat the rings off of them. I fought with them for a while till I finally figured out a method to get them off so I could re-install the u-joint. I positioned 2 screw drivers so that they were on the ends of the ring and gave them a sharp rap with the heel of my hand. Sure enough...."bling"... there it goes. It's somewhere in my shop. If someone sees it, let me know.:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Installed 4 degree pinion shims today. The trans is down 2.8 degrees and now the pinion is down 1.7 degrees. Close enough for CalTracs I guess.

Finally got around to assembling and setting up the 4.10 gears 742 center section for my Barracuda and got it swapped for the 3.73 gears I was running before. All good, smooth & quiet on a couple of test drives. It's a great setup with the GV Overdrive. Happy Me!

New 4.10s on the left and old 3.73 unit that I pulled on the right.

Attempting to shrink a nasty dent with a shrinking disc. So far so good. Made a lot of progress today despite being a rookie. I understand plastics but metal is new to me!

The current project is welding in cross member section on my B body wagon to replace rusted sheet metal repair that the body shop botched. Meanwhile, I had to pull a couple A bodies, and B bodies, outside in yesterday's rain to make room inside for my local car club's monthly meeting (it was my turn to host).

mom was its the exact same car ..just a year newer white w/blue interior ......she didn't get it ...or did anyone

I know I should be working on my to do lists, both car and home, but yesterday was too nice of a day to be working. Spent the day at a swap meet/car show instead!

That is exactly what I did Yesterday! No Swap Meet but a car show to benefit the local high school Marching Band! Scored a raffle Prize and The Top Award!
Nice to get the car out and chat with some other Motor Heads!

One thing led to another and I decided to repair as needed, clean and repaint all of my plastic trim to its original color. The headliner either needed to be replaced or fixed and painted, so out it came. Headliner can be saved, but I think I'm going to have to glue fabric over the cardboard, due to the delamination around the edges and the hole towards the front windshield. If anyone wants to share how they fixed their headliner, I'm all ears. I'm doing this on the cheap, so I'm working with what I have. I was afraid of what I might find on the roof after dropping the headliner since the car has a factory vinyl top, but it seems pretty solid. A lot of the discoloration on the roof picture is adhesive and stained foam I haven't yet removed. Other than finding a lot of nasty dried out foam and half of a petrified mouse, I was happy with getting the headliner out in one piece. Here's some pictures of what I've done and what's left:
Finished console (what started it all), just have to reassemble the top:

Parts I've painted:

What still need to be cleaned and painted

Finally, headliner and the inner roof:

Finally got everything repainted and installed. Since this is "Day 2" inspired Duster, I used era-racing stickers to camouflage the headliner flaws.

Depends on what pressure your rad cap is set at and if you run an overflow tank

Been helping a buddy since fall get his 68 GTS in order. We pulled the 4 speed for a rebuild , installed a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Removed all of the "blacked out" chrome and replaced with new chrome pieces. Removed a set of "slapper" bars and installed new shock plates and shocks on all 4 corners. Found a set of Centerlines to replace the orange rallies. Removed the intake and valve covers installed new gaskets to seal up an oil leak. We're on the downhill slide it goes in for new exhaust this week the cherry bombs gotta go!!

Those centerlines are a nice touch Ron...the rest of the car looks pretty good too!

Just bought a set of 14" rallies for 66
Funny came with 2 sets of center caps
And they are different.....
They look like the ones above...I guess those are 70 and up?
