What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

This was last Friday evening's gathering, of the Twisted Axle Car Club, during the Woodward Dream Cruise. I believe we had about 35 cars stuffed into that lot!

We are blessed to have some great friends that allow us to use their parking lots the entire Woodward Dream Cruise weekend. If you're in the area, please stop into the Blarney Stone Pub in Berkley, MI (Woodward just north of 11 Mile Road).

You don't wanna know the current price for that in the market with Air Cleaner & Filter. Yikes

I have an idea. My GTX was going to get a stroker and dual quads, but I decided living with my parents was a drag, so I bought a house instead. Oh well, burnouts in my yard is worth it, plus the edelbrock ch28 makes an excellent coffe table center piece, and a stroker crank makes a great door stop.

Went to a little local car show. Took both Demons this time. Had a good time and met some nice folks.

Then a guy walks over to see the 71 and we get to chatting. He was very complimentary about my Demons. Well, he brought 2 cars too. "Oh, which are your 2?" I ask. "Oh, the 67 Hemi GTX and the 69 Hemi 4-spd Roadrunner" he says. What????:thumbsup: is all I could say!!! A pair of Hemi cars??? "Yeah, I didn't have any more drivers or I may have brought another or 2." Huh???

"Well, I have a bunch of them at home. But only one L023 Hemi Dart." He wasn't bragging, just very matter of fact. So he showed me some pics on his phone... WOW is all I could say!! So I had to ask what line of work let's you have 11 Hemi cars plus a dozen or so more race cars. His name? Steve Atwell! I never knew he lived around here but I told him when I was a youngster, I had DC catalogs and magazines with he and his cars in them...with the wheels in the air, of course! He just laughed. Really cool guy - glad I went tonight!!

Cracked open the top of the 392.

Just mocking up the fuel injection....
Got to also check the distributor clearance to the manifold....heard it might need some trimming.

Tractor was bleeding off yesterday making things a pain. I'll lift the engine with this to make some k member modifications.

My little town had it's "Summer's End Cruise in" yesterday, so I had a few friends stop by before the show and we grilled burgers and hot dogs before driving into the show together. The guy with the Buick also has a nice 66 Coronet, so we didn't mind him bringing the Buick. There were a today of 280 cars in the show including a fair number of Mopars (in addition to the Mopars we brought). I took my white 68 Barracuda fastback.

Got the intake mounted....
Look at that perfect gasket matching!

I used anti-seize on the steel threads into the aluminum.
Had to re-tap several threads on brand new Edelbrock heads....ridiculous.
Good thing I have my taps handy...

Distributor clearance not an issue but I am going to have to grind the valve covers to make them seat.

For some reason, I always thought the Edelbrock cylinder heads have their intake bolt threads helicoiled. Are they not?

Absolutely the VERY best thing to be doing To/With your car today or any other.
I was going to drive it to work this weekend and put it across the scales, but rain was in the forecast, and the drivers window regulator is jacked. But it's sunny today and I'm not done yet! I'm going out for an afternoon cruise after I do some repair on my truck and who knows what else.

Yup... ,It will probably never be "DONE" but having it driveable as work continues is my goal Currently deadlined waiting on the new transmission and every nice weather day just kills me.

Cool. I'm kind of looking for a '66 Polara 500 convertible myself.
There's been a few for sale over the last couple of years. I used to watch the for sale ads like a hawk, but now I've got enough that I stopped looking. I need to get my current fleet operable.
