What Does "Reasonable Offer" mean?

-
what if someone says O.B.O. ?
that stands for "Or Best Offer", no ?

so if your asking $25.000, but i offer $750 AND i am the ONLY offer you get, shouldnt mine qualify as Best Offer?

I think that decision is up to the seller. lol

Best offer could mean "more" than the asking price too. If I'm selling and asking 5000, and you pull up and say "I won't even offer less, here is your 5000..." but somebody pulls up as you are getting your wallet out and says "I'll give you 5500 cash now". He is the best offer, so your 5k is no good any longer. This has happened :D

Here is the best way to handle what is "reasonable offer".
State at the start "you can make your offer in my drive way". So, everyone that believes that 250 buck offer is reasonable on a 1000 dollar item, let them drive 2 hours and make that offer. LOL. They won't, because they absolutely know they do not have a reasonable offer and they would waste 4 hours on the road.

These old cars have always come and gone. But I am happy when a guy drives hours to see my for sale car, he likes what he sees and just pays my price and is happy. Last time, the asks "would you take less?" I said "No". He said " I just HAD to ask!!!"

I never used to haggle at all but I've started here and there one car the guy was asking 3 grand I got him down to 2800...if he sai d no i would have paid the 3 ...on the other hand I had a guy get pizzed cause I lowballed him on a set of used tires for a Ford Escort...they weren't even High performance tires etc. truth is wierdos come in all shapes and sizes LOL!

I like how the question is basically what is meant by seller saying reasonable offers only but it turned into a 11 page debate if people should get offended (strawman) by your low ball offers, and give strawman excuses why they should be able to low ball :)

Why do you care so much if someone gets offended or not by your low ball/unreasonable offers ? You obviously don't care to follow their request of no unreasonable offers so why care how they feel about it ?

Yeah,,,it’s funny how some get offended by normal haggling .
But,,,it’s a free county ,,,,you all have the right to feel that way .
I usually haggle some,,,if I feel it’s worth the trouble .
I have made low ball offers on stuff when the seller was completely out of their mind .
Sometimes they accepted,,,other times not ,,,,some times got irate and offensive .
Lol .
Those parts are always still there ,,,years later .

Now,,,if I feel the seller is selling good product at a reasonable price,,,I never complain and give the original asking price .

I recently bought some X heads from a guy on here .
I have purchased several items from him already and can trust his opinion on the quality and price .
Fair market value is being reasonable ,,especially for good quality parts .
I gave him his asking price,,,,and even drove to pickup the heads and rockers .
441 miles one way !
Man,,,that was a long day !

At least I can trust the buyers I know on here .
Several guys in here are selling their products for fair prices ,,,I never hesitate to buy from them .
And I have made an offer for a little less,,,,which they have also accepted before .
Great guys on here !

this.

if i'm selling a car, i'm not negotiating on the phone. and i tell people that up front. you're welcome to drive over here and waste your time.

ask my bottom dollar and i'll give it to you. and i'll also tell you to pound sand when you show up and think you're gonna grind me for less.

on a car, if you show up and throw out a number thats 50% of ask, i'll know that you're not a serious person and you're wasting time. expect to get treated accordingly.

People "think" they are being reasonable when they offer pennies on the dollar, but when asked to drive here, and I'll listen to your offer when we are here in person looking at the car. They won't show, because no matter how they say they are being "reasonable" with their offer, they won't waste their time and come. Because they aren't being close to reasonable...

Yeah,,,it’s funny how some get offended by normal haggling .
Were not talking about normal haggling, people are arguing that seller should have zero problems receiving and dealing with unreasonable people and their offers.

The seller stated he's open to reasonable offers so obviously open to haggling, so what people are arguing for which really ain't the original point of the thread is that people shouldn't be annoyed with their unreasonableness, that it's unreasonable for the seller to expect people when asked to only give reasonable offers, funny is how offended some people (not saying you) are getting that someone might get offended with their unreasonableness lol.
But,,,it’s a free county ,,,,you all have the right to feel that way .
And you have the right to ignore peoples request

Well I've been following this never-ending saga and have been surprised that it hasn't been mentioned about a reasonable offer might only be expected if a reasonable price is included ?? I recently seen at Carlisle (this month) pie tins for $800. Yes one pie tin $800 . I wouldn't even bother talking any further. I know people have paid $500 for some but not me. I saw some for $300 and if I truly needed one I might offer $225 to start and see what happens. That I consider a reasonable opening offer. Again all this is just an opinion and we all know about opinions.
Feel free to disagree, be offended, move on or continue to haggle.

hai just bought a 340 and came with a free pie tin ....

Reasonable shouldn't be a slap in the face offer. "Reasonable" I know what you mean. Post a price you will take for it. Why price it at $1000 but you would accept $850. That's why we like to see bargaining taken to a PM and not plugging up a sale thread.
My sale pricing is reasonable. I go on line and see what others are asking and list my price at half. I want to sale, but not to a flipper. NO NEGATION!!!!

This story is on another thread and and I have no idea how to move it here.
I had shop for Wood Boats for almost 10 years. Closed when rent became unreasonable.
I'd been buying parts for years before that & at one time had almost 2000 parts(majority was chrome) & 25 engines and restorable boats came & went
One largest show in Florida, in March & decided to bring to sell. 1st year people happy to get what they needed & paid! Made $1800 in two days first year. By the second year was getting grumpies saying I was asking too much.
One year guy was a jerk about my prices(offered $10) & I took a ballpeen laying there & beat on the part & then told him he could have it for that now.
Not long after we started leaving parts home in Indy & just came down & enjoyed the show & vacation.
Sold( traded) all parts to eastern boat shop after heart attack & still haven't recieved the boat restored, that I was promised.
Oh Well!

Gee you can just not answer back on silly offers.
That's Unless the guy's Italian and maybe named Guido? ( wears a nice suit)
Mentioned he is gonna make you an offer, and mentioned hate to see you lose everything in a fire unless you sell.
