Yes, he has some 1970s vintage items, too.
That’s the only photo I got and I agree with you. I would be embarrassed to open my hood at a show with a set up like that.
It looks like you could probably refabricate/repurpose what you have with some welding and fabrication skills. Care to tell us what intake and carburetor that is and what it’s mounted on?
It’s an LD340 mounted on a mid 80’s 360. I’m guessing it’s an AVS but I wasn’t told. I was told that he went through 14 carbs and none of them would work.
AVS stands for Air Valve Secondary, the spring-loaded air-valve is up top and unmistakable AFB stands for Aluminum Four Barrel. No spring-loaded air valve TQ stands for BFH, Big Freaking Howler. Up top air valve again, but black center body. Best dang 4bbl carb Chrysler ever built. And when it begins to moan, you know something big is about to happen
Because ThermoQuad! Even in a land yacht with a smog motor, it’s good!

I'ma gonna fall outta my chair laughing, I don't know how I overlooked that one!
Start with replacing throttle cable clamp that mounts to intake. Get a edelbrock 1481 throttle adapter. Cheap enough, around $10. The threaded kickdown looks correct, just not on the correct side of carb stud. Start with cable and go from there. Eddy 1406 will work also but you may not need a new carb.
I am not sure that carburetor even needed that piece welded on. I believe I could make it work right without it. Now, you do need the correct bracket that bolts to the intake. That will at least put the linkage on the correct plane and from THERE you should be able to figure something out. Get that bracket replaced with the right one FIRST and go from there.
I would start with this, I used it on my LD340 when I changed to a Street Demon carb. Mancini Racing Throttle Bracket Kit
I’ve got to ask, how bad does that hang up when your driving it, anyway? Any panic moments with a stuck throttle yet? A complete factory linkage is your best bet, by far. It uses a longer rod from the throttle pressure valve on the transmission, a taller bell crank and throttle cable bracket, and a longer carburetor link assembly. You’ll be able to unbolt that mess of an extension bracket and mount the linkage stud off of it with the aforementioned Edelbrock 1481 (thanks 4spdragtop!) extension lever. It would make this whole deal an easy bolt on fix. This is really a good place for a factory service manual so you can properly set up and adjust your linkage, too. Because of the bad geometry, none of these homemade linkage setups like this properly operate the throttle pressure valve on the transmission in the designed linear motion even if they by some miracle manage to get it operate fully across its range of motion. And yes, it’s pretty important for the life of the transmission to make that happen.
The car is in the process of being built so it’s hasn’t been driven with that mess so far and won’t be. I personally don’t have access to the parts I need as far as a factory set up.
Glad it hasn't been driven. Here is most everything you should require for the fix bracket wise. And a $10 #1481 1960-1976 Mopar Restoration Throttle Cable Brackets Parts - National Parts Depot
I knew a girl like that once.
I knew a girl like that once.
LOL ........
Pull the cotter pin on the pivot end and install it through the other side of that “bell crank” bend the flat portion that connects to the carb stud into an offset to help get the rod operating at least close to parallel with everything. Bend it as needed for clearance, adjust the length for kick down function etc. Costs nothing.
Did you notice the angle iron and goobers on the linkage?
Yes. I could see the welds giving out. Pretty crappy looking. Is someone doing things up for you on this setup? Just offering a cheap fix on boogered up parts to at least get it working possibly much better than it likely is now. Have you priced reproduction linkage lately? I have, yikes. My sons Magnum needs everything but he can’t swing it just yet so it’s improvise for now while looking for used.
The car is in Montana being done, I am in New York and can’t physically do anything about it.
You should get the builder to join the site.
He is registered on the site but spends no to little time on it.
Well trying to convey a message this way and build a car is asking for trouble. This is/was an easy fix. Links have been posted for.parts to fix this. Buy them and ship them. Sorry not trying to sound rude but we cant reach thru the screen and fix, and your builder wont spend time on here(which I understand).
