Pitman arm is hitting tortion bar! Help?

I wander if the front end was replaced and maybe out of aliagnment. And that motor mount should "clamp"over both sides of the engine as it is now the motor is forward 1/2".So is the frame actaully 1/2 back?Look for odd looking welds along the frame.

The frame has been welded on. It looks like it was in a front end collision because its wrinkled on the drivers side but looks like it has been fixed and straightened..

That was my concern it may have been installed wrong.I know the steering box and torsion bar are set in at the place but what frame was put in it may be a different year or different car altogether.Just so many possiblities its hard to pin point.

I looked at that also. I went and found another thread and it did show the mounts on the back side of the mounting bosses but there was no nut or anything used as a spacer. In that thread the member was having motor mount problems and it ended up being the right and left sides were reversed.

The drivers side mount mount is fine. It's just the 318 style that needs a spacer added in there.

I tightened up the power steering mouting bolts lastnight..took it down the road about a mile and a half and they were already loose again and the steering box was moving all over...something is deffinatley messed up with this car but i just cant figure it out. I know a new steering box is not going to fix my problem..

Nuts are stripped or spining. It happens. Got to take the box out and look at the nuts in there.

You should be able to see and feel the inner two most steering box nuts from under the K-frame and top next to the motor mount. Tighten the bolts and feel the nuts. The top one near the frame rail you can't get behind.

I have a new steering box coming thursday so i will find out then..

The lower control arm bushing is on the other (front) side right between the lower control arm and the K-member.

Are my eyes messing with me or is your drag link (center bar) on backwards compared to this one? looks like this one makes the drivers tie rod end lean foward.

First your motor moounts are in wrong. Check the center link to make sure you that you dont have it 180 degrees out of place (end for end).

Looking at both pictures the center link looks on end for end. It appears bowed backward on the picture supplied by another member and bowed frontward on your pictutes.

He's is high on both sides.Your driverside looks lower compared to the pitman arm mounts.I looked at my 70 dart swinger(I konw its a different car) and with the wheels straight the pitman arm is facing straight back and clears the torsion bar by 1" or so.Do yall think since the car is lifted all the way up the front of the torsion bar will actaully drop a litte and cause the torsion bar to move closer to the arm?Since the torsion bar is on a pivot.

Compare yours to the last picture I posted. Looks like the tie rod end is sitting lower on the pitman arm side in the photo than yours is.

It looks correct to me but you know i cant really tell..thats a top view and mine has got the headers and everything in the way idk..its hard to tell..

If i were to loosen up the tortion bars and try to lower the front of the car down i wouldnt even be able to steer my car because the tie rod end would be laying on the tortion bar and i wont even be able to steer it. i have tried..i mean tortion bar would by laying on the tie rod end..

1973 up is a different set up from 1972 back. Tie rod ends on 72 back are ES319R and ES319L and changed in 1973 along with the center link, steering gear box and everything else.

Have someone post pictures of their 1973 up tie rod ends. Look at this picture and see how much shorter the casting is than yours. This looks like a match to the picture supplied by another member.

If we were working on 72 back I have a completely loaded 340 K-Frame out back.
There has to be something wrong that we just can't see. I am still thinking that something has the tie rod end raised but I am not sure if it is the center link or the tie rod end. I am thinking this is made up off a bunch of different cars.
