Really oughta stop making assumptions. I have a degree with Dual minors in American History and World civilizations. Served as an Army historian for 6 years.

If someone being critical of your ignorance, even in a hyperbolic way makes you think of the Nazis, you've exposed some major shortcomings in your knowledge base.

Congratulations on the degree. I'd be careful though. If you use the name of your university in this forum, you might expect a letter from their lawyers regarding a defamation suit. :D

Anyway, I would guess that reading and evaluating scientific studies is not part of the undergrad history and world civilizations curriculums. I can forgive you for that. Just don't pass off your emotionally influenced opinions as fact in a public forum and act like you are being unfairly persecuted when someone calls you out on it.

 OO NOO!!! people are getting sick, we now have another flu stain with a name.
Maybe if people would quit getting flu shots and antibiotics every time they get sick.
maybe just maybe they would have an immune system to combat illness.

OH MY FREAKING GOD.

Someone has to say it: whatever you paid for your degrees, was too much.

OH MY FREAKING GOD.

hyperbole. That’s funny coming from someone who wished another member died from this virus because he disagreed with you.

The only one getting emotional in this discussion is you. As for your attempt at insulting comments, I’m not offended, so you failed there.

However, I do think it just speaks volumes into your lack of having a rational discussion on an issue where there are differing opinions. Especially when all I have been stating is to stay calm and not panic. Which from the way all your posts read, that’s exactly what you are not doing. We get it, you’re scared of coronavirus. Nothing wrong with that. spreading more panic is exactly what shouldn’t be happening though. Stay calm, wash your hands and this too shall pass.

It’s 60-67,000 deaths in the U.S. annually (for the flu), against 360 million people.

Which is .022333333 chance (2.23%),

COMPARED TO 3000 recorded deaths when Coronavirus had 86,000 recorded cases.
Which is: .03488 chance of dying (3.488% chance).
.

So we should freak out because of a !% (1/100) difference in death rate?

COme on...

Sars roughly 8000 infections, 24+ countries
774 deaths stopped by isolation & extensive medical effort

Corona: 100,000 infections, 90+ countries
Is not, willnot be isolated.

2,500 cases of MERS in the Middle East
850 deaths-stopped by isolation & medical efforts

Bird Flu Has Now Hit 35 Countries

Coronavirus Cases: 100,702

Reported Deaths: 3,412

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 95 countries and territories around the world

Apples to oranges buddy

From my perspective, it is in MY city, close to MY family, people are dying. So I am taking it serious, unlike the mocking of Mayan calendars, Y2K.

Additionally, as I said, people recontract the virus. So I believe that it go around a few times. With people carrying the virus without symptoms, for days and days, those with weak respiratory or heart problems are known to have bad chances, that and the elderly-which includes several dozen aunts, uncles, and my parents.

I have limited insurance-about as socialized medicine as it gets, and if I had to put my wife or daughter in the hospital, I personally have little faith after some of the deaths of other veterans with the same coverage.

It doesn’t really matter until it is in your living room does it? ***** is knocking on my door.

...

Yes. I was referring to MY hyperbolic statement....which obviously did offend you (dude, you called me a Nazi over it).
Obviously, nobody is wishing anyone would actually die here. The reply was written out of sheer frustration over how stupid people can be when the health of others is at stake.

The will to interpret unpleasant information in a way that makes the world seem hospitable to their preconceived opinions is a loathsome trait.

You don't get it. OPINIONS have nothing to do with it. That comment alone proves that you have no right to use the term "rational" discussion.

I agree. Panic is not the right response to this but your "fingers in the ears" approach is evidence of the wrong response to fear...it's maybe only one notch better than all out panic.
Taking this seriously is the right response. Many people on this forum are in their 60s and 70s. While younger people like us will experience mild flu like symptoms or even something like a common cold, this virus is a serious threat many of us in this community.

This is not World War Z. Society isn't going to collapse from this but this is already slamming the economy. How many people we lose needlessly and how much damage will this do in the 12-18 months until a vaccine is ready depends on the scientific literacy of the population.

Personally, I'm hoping that like the flu, the summer weather disrupts the spread and that this dies off... but there's absolutely no rational reason to rely on this...we still need to take precautions and understand how these things work in order to minimize suffering.

It's being reported there is a presumptive case of Coronavirus in my town of Rome, GA, a city of 36,000 people.

I'll continue to wash my hands and not touch my face!!

These were handed out at work.

FYI:

I talked to the lady from Stephens performance at the swap meet today. the AMD dealer. She confirmed they are discontinuing parts that aren’t selling. Said that decision was made last fall without regards to tariffs or any thing else. Said that they grew tired of paying yearly inventory taxes on items that simply were selling maybe 1-2 per YEAR.

thought I’d pass that along

Let's not forget death by a 3 wheeler.... I survived, how about everyone else? I mean gosh darn if this really is the end of the Car Hobby as we know it then
Yup. Pretty much what that Mopar connection article. Smart business move.

You mean a simple accounting decision is now the Iron fist of Mopar lovers...... It's sad when people get eat up with Virus this and Tariff that when in the end it still all comes down to dollars and sense in regards to deciding to eliminate slow moving products.... If you want a laugh go read through another thread about the AMD products.

The suppliers of niche markets are only going to narrow more and more. Schumacher is right there with em'.

Same as any other business. IF you have a machine on your manufacturing floor and ain't making the Bennies that it cost to keep it around you send it out the door. Now it will get interesting if you have either the skills to fix metal or you have hoarded up a bunch of sheetmetal...

to the guy quoting my post MRGTX, get a grip. LOL
would you like to help me form my opinion. lol
or just tell me what to say and believe. LOL
I don't believe the virus has anything to do with parts suppliers not providing certain parts

its typical of the mopar community and especially abody guys. they want want want all these different things then don't open up the wallet to buy said things when they make them, then they ***** when they go away.. have seen it happen time an time again..

...taps forehead with pointer finger..."if I can't afford these parts when in stock and cheap, I don't have to worry about when they are not in stock or expensive"..
For once I'm glad I don't have the spare cash to buy new AMD parts, lol

Yep... Torch and some work will get me to where I need to be. Mine is a 72 and since the other thread mentioned anything after 71 isn't a big dollar car so I might just cover my rust up with Plaster of paris lol...
